Not Canadian anymore.

Different company than the one from Quebec. Different owners. Different ideals.

We can get they’re not at all concerned anymore with building products that can withstand Canadian conditions.

This is a desperate cash grab from a couple losers.

I’m assuming it probably cost a pretty penny to buy and move…

Paying money for a business that is likely to fail again really doesn’t seem like a cash grab more than an absolutely terrible financial decision.

I wouldn’t put it past people, especially in the most capitalist country on the planet.

They’ve acquired the name of an old, respected Canadian company, moved to a gentrified part of the states and are seeking to extort money from under educated esk8ers. It’s pretty obvious.

I think you’re overestimating the extremely little amount of money there is to be made in esk8.

I definitely wouldn’t trust these guys.

This isn’t the same Lacroix.

Lacroix is also a French word, specifically it’s Quebecois.

Taking the Quebec out of Lacroix is like taking 3 wheels off of an esk8.

If it’s a new company in a new place with new management, why did they need to take an old IP?

The whole thing is super sus. These guys aren’t even on the forum.

If it were a cash grab why would you move to a gentrified part of the states. That just seems counter intuitive.

Because that’s what all the American capitalists do foo. Look at silicon valley.

Silicon Valley is because competition is primarily centralized to one location so companies want to make it easier to poach talent. Moving a company into a gentrified location and paying more for rent isn’t a cash grab.

So I reiterate my previous query:

They didn’t need to. They chose to.

I don’t understand why you think this is some sort of scam?

They’ve bought out the remaining stock/IP and now Lacroix customers will once again be able to purchase parts for their boards and potentially new products as well.

I feel it’s a dubious business venture given how poorly it went the first time around, but I’m really failing to see your point of view.

The old LaCroix workshop looked like some kinda 5 star chalet. More like a place you be eating black watermelon and moose cheese or whatever it is rich people do in the mountains. Not so much sniffing solder fumes.

Is that boostedUSA? (Edit: no it’s not) they bought up old boosted stock and sold it for a bit too. I’d hope they’d do more to revitalize an old beloved brand like lacroix than sell old stock.

they were at first esk8con. the guy that took first on a boosted was with them.

IMO I always thought that was a part of the problem. It’d make more business sense and to be financially responsible to move to a location where labor and rent are reasonable.
