Cheers mate right u are, edited

Hey everyone, sorry to bring up an old thread, but I’m hoping someone with a Paragon deck can chime in about their experience with the flex.

I’m currently mocking up my build, and there seems to be a lot of flex without any batteries or internal components yet. I’m really hoping that the flex is just because the deck isn’t fully built out.

I’m on the heavier side, but even with my much lighter girlfriend standing on it, it still feels pretty soft. Has anyone noticed if adding the battery, and other hardware stiffened the deck at all? I’d hate to break such a beautiful deck.

Appreciate any input!

I would take it of your hands if the flex worries you

Not quite ready to give up on it yet, but I won’t rule out the option.

Do you know what the construction of the layers are? Could always add another one if needed. I’m sure @CannoliRoller @glyphiks @tomiboi would be happy to chime in too once we get technical

This is what the RammBoards site says about the Paragon deck:

“The deck is 9ply + 3ply fiberglass. We intentionally didn’t put any carbon in the deck, so not to interfere with the remote/receiver signal.”

Based on what I read beforehand, I expected the Paragon to be on the stiffer side — but now that I have it in hand, it’s flexing a lot more than I thought it would.

I’ve already reached out to Jamie from Red Ember and Tomiboi to ask if they’d be willing to help reinforce the deck, maybe by adding layers of fiberglass or carbon. But honestly, it might end up being too expensive or just not worth the effort.

What do you all think it would be worth in its current state? I’m starting to wonder if I should just cut my losses and move on to a different deck. And big thanks for tagging those folks — really appreciate it.

I’ve worked on the ramm board before. How flexible is this one? How stiff are you trying to make it?

Oh awesome!

This deck is super flexible. My girlfriend weighs around 150 pounds, and there was still a noticeable amount of flex with her standing on it.

Ideally, I’d love to make this thing as stiff as possible without losing its awesome shape. I have a bad habit of breaking decks, so I’m always a little anxious about it. Honestly, part of why I wanted to build a mountainboard was to avoid that kind of worry altogether. I just want to ride this one without any anxiety about it snapping on me.

Also, just to be clear — I’m super interested in getting this done. If it’s possible, I’m absolutely in.

@tomiboi made my flexy proto super stiff with top and bottom layers of carbon fiber. Did an amazing job :ok_hand:t2:

That one turned out really nice. I hope it’s been a fun ride.

Looks like there are about three layers removed under the deck for battery clearance.

Makes me wonder if that’s why she feels so flexy.

Batch 2 had that clearance from what I read

I just read through some of the older messages too.

Wonder if that is part of reason they don’t make the combo anymore.
