Does it only only happen at really high motor amps? All good if you run 80A for example?
yep… 110 no good… but only on bumpy terrain from what I gather, 100 seems alright so far, 80-90 is solid.
I think you just need a higher gear ratio and less amps

@xsynatic re your show me the low range. this is a 14.4 miles on the 10s5p 20700b pack. I could maybe have squeezed a couple more miles out of it. But I got tired. And it was voltage throttling. Which I have set to 32/30 recently. Pack has I estimate about 220 cycles on it [ cc @CiscoV ]

Brakes were just right from -24A to -35A. More power less cogging. I did notice metr showed my battery sagged to 8% while accelerating around 20% however no noticeable loss in power.
Watch out that it doesn’t turn into an LVC end scenario like mine. Shit’s not fun while accelerating and you lose all power. Not saying it’s going to happen, but review your log and check how close you got. Better safe than sorry.

Not necessarily, but then they’ll behave differently past LVC start. Unless that’s what you want. Just watch out, 3V isn’t a very big range, and your battery will sag harder in the cold.
I’m always confused by reports of LVC being harsh. From my observations as the battery SAGs past the LVC start the current is cut reducing the effect of the SAG even at tight range of 32/30 with my high sag 20700b setup it’s never harsh. just less oompf. so I wonder what’s happening in other situations to give others a different experience.
With my crash for example the voltage went right past LVC start and LVC end, causing immediate power loss.
The only explanation I have currently is it was a high draw situation on a very cold day.

I was trying to take a long bike trail so I could push my range without stops so I didn’t really stop to figure out why metr wasn’t connected. so just fall back to using xmatic which was also tracking. (it’s connected to hm-10 on second vesc) I decided to head 8 miles down to el porto and back.
I ran out of juice at 14.4 miles… “WTH??” I’m thinking. “I should at least get 15 or 16?”
Then I checked xmatic settings. damn. it still thought I was using a 16T pulley. instead of the 20T pulley … so 80% off. I actually got 18 miles. … and that is the extent of what I can squeeze out of that 10s5p 20700b 756wh pack. ( xmatic reports 540wh used at 30v. )
the route
That route was pretty cool. balllona creek trail to the south beach bike trail along the beach from marina del rey to manhattan beach. good for a ‘small group’ group ride IMO. tad crowed. oncoming bikes don’t give a crap how much space they leave when passing people. great views. ocean/waves/beachgoeers and some sailboat practice.
