R.E.D. Initiative 2021 - Ride.Every.Day

Got a couple rides today with the Haero which I just put a chain drive on.

Lunch break 15 miler.
It was pretty nice out today and the chains worked well so life is good.

Then I went for ride 2 a little after 10 pm.
Lovely cool summer night.

And a few different interesting things happened.

1st.
Got startled by a skunk.
I was on the street he came out of the sidewalk only about 5 feet away. And he turned around…

I had never ran accross a skunk riding.
Most night rides have some sort of wildlife crossing. But had never seen a skunk.
Deer are very common.
Been seeing foxes a lot.
And your occasional oppossum.

2nd.
Got startled by a deer.
Big one… Was just there 5 feet away from me and it turned around…
Woke me the fuck up.
I see deer a lot but usually 20 or 30 feet away…
This close up got my heart really going.

And 3rd…
I causes a University Cop to slam on her breaks…
I was pulling off of a trail to go right on to the street and came out kinda fast…
And she was coming on the other lane so I startled her like the deer did to me…
Luckily she just drive off.
Here is the good part… If I had my belts on and not my chains there is a chance I might have slammed into her cart.
So hooray for chains and good breaks…

My ride yesterday after a long break

First ride with new motors and the jedboxes.
Climbed one of the steepest hill in that are to pull as many amps as possible. And i went up to the castle twice, thats some steep shit. I think some points were 10°?

Hot diggity damn thats a steep hill. My hill test road is on the back side of a local volcanic cinder (old dormant mini-volcano). It is like 28° off level, so like more than 50% grade. My first build (Sunrise) can power up it at 22mph constant.

28° is no small number either!

I really liked climbing that. I never imagined going up hills at 50km/h. On my ride yesterday the highest speed i reached even was uphills.

Nice ride through the hills, pulled some decent amps :love_you_gesture:

First neobox fault? What was it? Havent had one yet

On the neoboxes yep, it was ABS_OVERCURRENT. it happened at this exact corner on the left

Not sure why. My guess is that i went on the cobblestone slowed down because they were shaking me around and the tires spun out. After i got ground again i pushed it and boom, board stalled with a higher pitched sound.

It happened at 21:28 if you want to look at it.

Yeah thats probably what happened, quite steep

I did the same yesterday but with a different approach that workee perfectly. Other than that, the jedboxes are holding up really good.

Powering uphill is the greatest feeling ever.

Especially if you can keep up with cars and they have the most disbelieving look on their face.

Whats this DVR fault. Detail says NO FAULT at the end.

so much more confidence inspiring to power uphills… as long as your equipment supports it… man that’s a steep ass turn!!

If it wasn’t for those damn cobblestones it would be no problem. They were the reason i got the ABS_OVERCURRENT fault. I think the top speed was on a steeper hill but in a straight line. Next time i ride over there i’ll try to measure how steep it is.

I also could swear that the road a few citys away would be a contender for the steepest hill in the world.
You can only walk down if you lean so much back that your feet almost loose grip.
