It was 72° when I let the pups out this morning so I went for an early 10 mile ride around the lake.
Went on a push board ride around the park with my son after lunch. That shit is tiring in 80° weather. Lots of good hills to bomb though. Uphill sucks. Getting better on his board though.
Then blasted around the park and lake and neighborhoods on my mtb. Can’t wait to have my longer range board and never sag. Got home just in time for the rain to kick in.
…took a couple days off… then back on the board for some ez-esk8… doing about 5-10 miles a day at the moment, super slo-mo pace… sk8ing when hurt sux… i’m just embracing the suck till i heal…
Seriously R.E.D. has not only kept me sane, but also done a lot for my confidence and skill during this crazy time. Cheers for the idea @DerelictRobot!
About 2 years ago I had an 8-9 mile commute each way to my old day job downtown. The commute via car was awful because Portland has grown larger than our highways/freeways can handle leaving commuter traffic a nightmare. 45-60 minutes average to get 8 or so miles during rush hour, life sapping.
I tried push-boarding for about a week but the hills here + traffic was too much to make it sustainable. So that’s what lead me to start building esk8- originally I was just looking for a better braking solution for going down hills. Started building them for commuting, riding them every day until a board would break, repairing/rebuilding that and keeping 2-3 boards up to cycle through. And here we are today- I only really use my car to transport my kids or do large grocery hauls- it’s been a great challenge overall and I’m probably in the best shape of my adult life (har har, I know I’m asking for it).
Been riding the past couple of days, no proof though because I didn’t take photos and waiting for replacement metr Pro. Should start logging again soon.
Tell me about it man… 7 months or so in the making. Did another mile with the trucks as loose as they can possible be and god I love them. I’ll write up a whole thread with price breakdown etc tonight.
Was a lot of errands for elderly people that’s for sure… Dang Covid stole my “job” All of the elderly people got caretakers, luckily everything was payed for already
I don’t know or care anymore. My motor pulleys are garbage, there isn’t anything impressive to post bc I let off when they make the bad noises. Relive app is good enough
