I know, it is pretty sketchy. I’ve had a lot of practice with falling so I feel pretty good about bailing out, plus I’m not running heel straps so I can get out of the board. But hey, we heal a hell of a lot faster than you old men :joy:

Why

I haven’t done much jumping on this setup, so there is is work needed when it comes to form…
Big ol 12s8p really effects it in the air.

The 22x22 adapters won’t seat on the Luna 350s. I’ve tried the hot and cold method, blow torching the adapters to heat them up, filing the adapters, now I guess if I want it to run I just have file down the 350s :smiling_face_with_tear:

That’s great, hopefully he takes the bait. I’d agree with what Pecos said about you spare parts. Having a buddy to mountain board with is more valuable than whatever cash you might get for that stuff. Plus getting hurt out on the trail solo sucks. My extra stuff stash is getting bigger again so hot me up if you need stuff for the build.

I think I’m cursed. I’ve had 2 esk8 buddies that have had bad crashes and quit on me. Been riding with a new friend recently though so we’ll see if I take him out too.

Its like stooge and radium had an illegitimate lovechild

Exactly the same thought at first glance.

pleased to see at least someone is pushing out a design other than another ‘links’…

Those wheels look interesting, keen to know if they are following Radiums lead on the rubber approach or if they’re thanes.

It looks super short, I have no practical experience but I thought a bit more length was desirable of a race setup.

This has taken up much of my time over the last 6 months.. designing, fabricating and constructing has been epic. With this nearing completion maybe I can finish my frikkin board this year.

The awning when fitted will be 6m long X 3.2m wide.

Looks rad but need more context, guessing it a mount for a retractable awning to get the heat up higher while enjoying the coverage?

Yeah man, exactly this. You can see our existing awning at the bottom of the image. It doesn’t provide a great deal of cover and doesn’t drain very well. The main issue was the wall height. To achieve awning drainage you need about 15’ so in order to get it to work, the wall height needed to be another 1200 high.

The blue line indicates the existing awning and the red is the new coverage. This is at the Bar I manage.

This will make a massive difference for our space. Still a little concerned about wind uplift but we’ll sort that out when it up. I completed the roller element yesterday. I still need to fix the tarp to it and then make the winding mechanism.

Nicely done, as long as it’s braced to the building structure and the retractable awning breaks before the super structure you put in it shouldn’t be a problem right? I don’t know the wind loads in your area or how to figure that out properly - it might be worth asking the awning sales person or installer. Likely that tube steel is way over spec

Over engineered is good

Will likely utilise a couple of 50l water drums mid span of the tarp if required.. all of the connections to the fence structure (steel) are spring flex, it’ll be allowed to move a ‘little’. We have some experience with keeping the existing awning alive and operational in windy (to a point) conditions.

For the lads now testing with go kart tires
Or really the guys that are thinking about it I saw these on Facebook marketplace the other day

Not sure that these are the applicable size to the newly designed adapters made by I forget who as I’m driving ATM. But I thought they looked cool

magnesium is supposed to be lighter than aluminum

I believe the downside to that is that they are prone to corrosion and also violently flammable

Please don’t text (or forum, or Facebook marketplace) while driving. It’s extremely easy to kill or maim someone while driving. An activity that dangerous deserves your full attention at all times.

Doesn’t look very applicable. Pretty sure it’s 2x fronts 2x rears. Rears are too wide for esk8 and generally take 11" tall tires, you need 4x fronts. On esk8 you don’t need wider rear than front, stagger sizes tend to understeer a lot more.

The main difference with magnesium is that it holds heat (or lack thereof) better. For esk8 this is only advantageous if you have tire warmers and this start the race with hot to the core tires and rims.

Looks to be most likely the same mounting dimensions as stooge hubs. Different to the mounting that I run.

I wish my welds at the start of this truss and awning project looked like this one near the end

Lol at least you improved

I thought my deck press project would be good welding practice… it was, but my skills didnt improve
