Hey while we’re on the trans topic, yall should check out my favorite band, Rainbow Kitten Surprise.

The lead singer transitioned to she/her pronouns in 2022 and the music is top notch indie folk pop.

Popular song to get you hooked:

Beautiful and deep song about Ela’s struggles:

Nice setup :+1: what are you using for a DAW and what VsTs do you like ? I really like Ableton and use native instruments, vanguard, virus, ect… mostly just for making cool noises while baked wouldn’t say any of it as being productive. It’s really the ultimate time sink :joy:

I use FLS 24 on a 2019 MacBook Pro, pushing piano rolls directly to an MC-707 and TR-8S over usb-midi, then routing the audio from the groove boxes back into FLS over USB (same cables, so clean) into 19 separate instrument channels where I can stack in 7 band parametric eq, Maximus, blood overdrive on the 303 sounds and synth metal guitar sounds I made with mostly oscillators, some reverb and delay and some soft clipper when I need it. I don’t use VST instruments and stick with stock plugins for dynamics and effects. I love the way Roland gear sounds too much to use stuff like serum, but it can limit you in ways. But doing it this way means FLS is half asleep burning almost no processor the whole time.

I have an m-track duo pushing monitors and phones, and a scarlett 18i20 in the rack behind the MacBook for routing outboard effects if I want to, though I don’t have much of that yet, just a vintage Alesis compressor/limiter and a dbx 32 band eq.

I’m using Alesis monitor ones I got in the early 2000s, passive, with an ra-100 amp for near field monitors and a pair of Samson rubicon R8As for mid fields. The Yamaha ns-5s are for a third objectively harsh opinion. Phones are slate audio VSX and yes they’re totally everything the hype says they are. No more car tests and drastically reduced tweaking time.

I mix down to a Sony minidisc deck I bought brand new in 1999 because I found it really adds a warmth similar to analog tape for reasons I can’t explain other than maybe the dacs are totally slept on. Then I bring the mixdown back in for a very light touch of eq and Maximus. And yes, the 26 year old disc carts are still flawlessly recording and playing back. I have no explanation other than Sony made it back when people still made shit that lasted.

I built the desk myself, and the speaker stands. That’s dyed skateboard veneer on the plywood edges and the 707 and tr8 are set in flush.

Also have a Roland VT-4 voice transformer but I rarely use it. It’s a convenient midi interface though.

Yes that’s a bc rich warlock plugged into a digitech rp2000. A LOT of my gear is from the late 90s. Because that’s what I like. Heavy fucking electronic metal, industrial/metalstep I guess.

Ya vst latency can be bad experience, I’d love hardware if I could swing it. Needing maximum ram isn’t really cheap either. What’s your sound cloud? I almost bought an electribe awhile back but got worried the tubes were bad :face_with_monocle:

it was time to find somewhere to put this, so I just made a Soundcloud account. This is the first time I’ve released anything since 2013, and I’m kind of starting over. I used to release through tunecore.

the samples you hear of the kid screaming things and talking about Fortnite are my 10 year old. his vocal presence on a mic is kinda scary with the “oh yeahs” and “it’s time to party” but I also got a ton of samples from him by setting my phone down in the living room while he was gaming.

It’s unfortunate it even got this far …

This will be a much nicer place.

So only 3 out of 4 stickers in these pictures are from me. Don’t want to point any fingers but it seems like a certain forum member here has been riding on my turf…

@longhairedboy how is this masterpiece not your PfP already?

I didn’t want to take away from the brilliance of the artist by trivializing his work as a profile pic. It belongs in a gallery with a ridiculous price tag.

It would be disrespectful to not honor his work by using it. His work is meant to be used, it’s for the people and not just some gallery.

(He does take mod rights as compensation too)

Might anyone know what this axle thread sizing is?

Is it 3/8-24 UNF ?

I think they’re an m10 thread. I can check when I get home

I don’t believe they are.
I tried putting a m10 on them and it didn’t exactly work I will double check what size the nut is when I get home. I have a thread Gauge at home, but I’m just at the McMaster carr right now
(In a rush)

There are a few different m10 thread pitches. I have a threading took to figure it out
