damn, not bad!
still have the focbox unity around
An hour ago I started drinking and had a tuna melt. I looked up to realize, she has been ādeath staring āme for a good hour
What do you want from me, I spend 2 hours a day scratching your snout, I need a life of my own!!!
For the last while, Iāve been a little envious of everyoneās holes. But now, things are picking up and itās time to finally get a hole of my own.
This oneās gonna be 6x9m, and get a 2.7m stud garage.
What is the advantage to hV on a lower power setup when you can just turn up the battery amps? You would need lower kv motors which have more resistance and higher voltage mosfets which have more resistance.
Sometimes hV VESCs can handle more power overall but that only seems really necessary when the amount of current would make the wire and connector sizes prohibitive, but in that scale one XT90 is plenty. You also donāt get a cheap hV VESC like a DV4S or most flipsky.
Sometimes even the geometry of the enclosure could be a good reason. I regret the difficulty of making a 12S11P battery fit my switchblade that I made a 4 section flexible battery compartment for. 16S would have been way easier.
That sounds a lot like what I did, I built a 12s8p, connected a 12s2p in parallel in the enclosure with balance leads and all then before one charge cycle took out the 12s2p and added a 4s8p in series which made way more sense and 8 extra cells.
Techshit didnāt mention enclosure layout but it is something we need to pay attention to for sure. The length ways cells and enclosure matching their radius lets me get much lower in a turn.
My prototipo is 12s8p+12s2p 18650. Was a right bitch with all those balance leads and not shorting them out of cocking it up.
Sweet hole and nice Hoe! I get so frustrated not having all the cool toys at home .
I like the way my low end of the battery feels on 18s more than 10 or 12s. Just seems to give me what i want all the way until it dies. Subjective though, definitely an option and not based off of more than my 6-7 builds that got lots of miles. I donāt like the d100s or makerx because of the lack of smart reverse and sold my d100s
I think thatās due to hV powertrains being more powerful on average giving you more low end torque no matter the overall power, but even then then if youāre talking like <40 cells or especially 20/21 maxing out 2 of most VESCs is probably giving you a huge amount of torque for that setup and only at very low speeds. When you only have 20 battery amps, 180 motor amps donāt last until very fast.
This is the idea I had when designing my build personally. While high voltage is typically known for high speed at the top end, if you donāt use that top end very often or at all you take advantage of huge efficiency gains with low end torque. And running more amps isnāt just about wire size, running the vesc at a lower current and also the motors keeps everything cooler. Additionally the losses from low Kv are offset by the iron/copper losses in high kV motors, there ends up not being much of a difference in terms of efficiency there.
Err, not really. Like there might be a small amount in some builds/setups but i think that efficiency āgainsā are basically negligible.
Watts are watts.
Iāve only got one 18S board but I agree.
Itās claimed 2.5kwh of ātop shelfā cells can be emptied in about an hour in a straight line on the open road which is really all itās good for anyway.
My favorite attribute of 12S has been that I have multiple chargers. My 18S charger is the same size and weight as a six pack of cans except I canāt drink it.
Idk if itās just that itās my first electric mountainboard, but I really feel like Iām getting far more oomph with less watts in this config. Iām pushing roughly 3kW total and I find I have well enough low end torque, but I lack enough traction to take advantage of it.
Iāve hired digger driver Paul. Not my own toys. My background is mostly influenced by being a sparky, so I just use shovels and hire the guy with the digger.
14.5 years ago I moved here with the intention to build a new garage. I wanted it for doing up a car. Now I donāt like cars and want the space to bring some woodwork gear home, and for building better esk8. Not cheap, not financially worthwhile but being 40 already, urgency couldnāt now be higher.
oof, this is super sad rip dude
Itās right by me
Definitely worth it to part out and flip
