it is really cool!!Do you have any suggestion about how can i replace 8 inchs tires to 10 inchs tires? Or do you have any link where i can buy that? thank you!!

Anyone know what the width and length of the new Ruckus deck is?

Under specifications there’s some dimensions but I think it’s for the whole board. Not sure if it helps or not.

We offer one of the best gear drives in the industry. All metal, no plastic and its oil lubed, not grease which gets spun off the gear the first time you crank up the rpms. Check them out on the site under:

(Sorry, Cant post a link for some reason)

here is why

Hi All, new here, this is my first post.

Anyone here have any experience with the new Endeavor2 Gear Drive?

I’ve recently installed it on my GT.
The hardware install went great, really clear and simple instruction video on their YT channel.
But now that it’s installed, I’m having problems.
I’ve reached out to them for help but Im in CA and they’re in China, so hopefully hear back by tomorrow.

So to start with, the gears in the drive are arranged in a way that makes the wheels run backwards.
On top of that, once off the bench, the board has no torque and no brakes.

It runs awesome on the bench, in fact its so fast and torquey that the tires balloon a bit at full speed…
Which is awesome, it didn’t do that with the belt/pulley setup.
But as soon as you stand on it and try to go, all the torque is gone, it takes several seconds for the board to get to even a modest speed… Also, No Brakes!

I can change the remote to run the board in reverse and that’s an ok fix for the direction, but the board struggles to push me forward and once I am moving, I can’t stop. (in only 150lbs)
So, it’s basically unridable atm.

Also, on top of having no torque and no brakes, out of the box the right side gear drive binds a bit about every 1 1/2 turns of the wheel. And there is quite a bit of backlash in the gear drives too.
Holding the motor bell, you can rotate the tire back and forth about 1/4" so it seems gear spacing leaves room for improvement.

I used Valvoline Full Synthetic SAE 10W-30 Oil. Propel recommends 10W-30 or 20w-30. Filled to the proper recommended level (35ml).

Also this seems really strange to me.
But, there was no logo or markings on the box, no serial number on the gear drive, no label or sticker on the box, no barcode, no product registration information, No ā€œQC Passā€ sticker. Nothing, just a blank black box wrapped in what felt like cling film and a bunch of clear packing tape.
It’s almost like the gears I was sent were either a pre-production sample or maybe leftovers from the Esk8 Expo.

Anyway, It’s been a weird experience so fat.
If you read all the way down to here, thanks for taking the time.

@Russ from propel is here if he has thoughts to share.

Awesome, thanks. I hope @Russ chimes in.
I’m thinking of swapping back to the belt drive to see if it has torque again.
Just in case I somehow broke something while installing the gear drive.

Also, still no replay on my email to support (services@ridepropel…)

lmao for esk8, seems about right

Right?!.. LOL
Still seems weird tho, considering my board came with no less than 5 Serial # stickers. Even had a matching serial # sticker on the remote.
Anyway, Still no reply from Propel :slightly_frowning_face:

I noticed that ā€œkick-to-startā€ also no longer works with the Gear drive installed.

Anyway, I went back to the belt drive and the board runs like it always has… Kick-to-start works again, and the board had plenty of GO and stopping power…

So, what am I missing?
FOC setting changes to account for the different gear ratio and motor direction?
Defective gears, from factory?
User error? What could I have done wrong, I followed their YT install video.

In said video, they end with ā€œIf the gear runs normally and there is no abnormal sound, it indicates that the installation is successful.ā€
Ohhhh does it now.!?!?

Anyway, Im at a total loss here.

Ok, so after plenty of playing around I figured it out.
One of the gear drives binds, as I mentioned, but I only ever tested it from the output side… From the output side, the binding feels kinda mild, but from the input side, way different story. Its harder to turn than the good gear drive and every 5-ish turns it makes a horrible sound. My guess is; 2 of the middle gears have a damaged spots that line up every 5-ish turns of the input and every 1-ish turn of the output. 5.33:1 ratio so that makes sense.
The binding (grinding?) happens twice in the span of about 10 turns, the first bind is not too bad, and the second is really bad. I think that 2 gears are messed-up and the messed-up parts from both gears lines up every 10-ish turns, but every 5 turns only the messed-up spot on the smaller of the 2 damaged gears runs against the other gear… I hope Im making sense here. :upside_down_face:
You can hear it in the video.

I still haven’t heard back from Propel, so I filed a claim with PayPal.
Maybe that will get them to respond…

Sorry for the multiple posts.
I just got the Editor badge, and its telling me I can edit my posts, but I still have no Pencil Icon in the 3-dot menu…
I’ve logged out and back in. And restarted by browser…
hmmm…

Turns out to be 3 bad bearings. 1 on the input and 2 on the output.
I have replaced 2 of the 3 so far (i’m waiting on a puller for the 3rd) but the binding and grinding is already about 90% gone.

Anybody ever put a VESC4.20 in an Endeavor 2?

Update:
Russell called me today, and after some digging, turns out my Email provider was spamming their emails before they got to any of my devices.
Anyway, it seems there was manufacturing defect on the original gear set I was sent, so they sent me a replacement. Sadly, it also binds exactly the same on the same side, so we’re gonna have to work that out.
But I’m super relieved that we are in communication now and working on getting it resolved. Thanks @Russ (Im assuming that’s you.)
Oh, also turns out, the gear drives might not be compatible with the GT’s FOC, which I also suspected because of it behaviour.

Anyway, I hope we get it resolved soon, I’ve been forced to ride my Evolve GTR :face_vomiting:
