Has anybody tried OMWs 6 inch tires? They look good.
I am currently testing a hussar with omw with these tires, and I’m a guy obsessed with tires.
They have a nice flat profile at lower psi, but become a little rounded with higher psi.
Sidewalls not as stiff as other flat profiles I’ve tried.
Grip is lacking a bit. I think it’s because of the tread pattern, since the formula seems okay. Can’t carve as hard with them without the grip breaking, and feels a little more slippery on sandy/dirty corners.
They are pretty balanced, but I wouldn’t call it perfect, or amazing.
Overall I think they are great tires to come with a production board that riders don’t need to upgrade, but it not something many of us would opt for as an aftermarket tire.
I think it could be the compound too. It is a little hard. It is still a good all around tire for those that want a tire that lasts for a long time.
I have ridden the Nova tires. The rubber compound used on those tires is top notch.
Which tires would you recommend size from 150-175mm?
For “standard” ~50mm rims, or the extra wide ones?
Personally, bkbs 6"s have been my absolute favorite tire for everyday use with regular sized rims. Really the only downside is they pop tubes a little faster than others. If it has like 25% more grip, they would be the absolute perfect 150mm tire for me. (The fact they are so cheap and last a long time is just the cherry on top)
I haven’t had a chance to test the 6" novas, but I do have the 7". Balance isn’t perfect, but better grip than the bkbs. Can get some insane grip by stretching them on wider rims too (alough I doubt possible with the 6").
160mm - 165mm size options for esk8 are either rounded, or extra wide.
I am however pushing some companies for a 160mm flat profile option for regular rims, as I think that’s a great size for rougher street riding (6" feels a little small, but 7" a little big/sluggish)
For standard rims. Have you tried 150mm hota tires from aliexpress? Are they absolute shit or worth a try? They are a really affordable option for people from the EU as they don’t cots an arm and a leg in shipping.
i’ve tried the 150 and 155mm hota tires and i wasn’t a fan. the balance sucked on the ones i tried
I’ve 150mm hota and there are unbalanced a lot, one front tire I could add some weight and fixed it, but with second one it was impossible. So for casual ride ok, for 30km/h and more it’s lottery…
I do not like them. Would be the first thing I replaced if a board came with them.
Okay, maybe I’m being too harsh. They work, they are cheap, and okay for casual riding. It’s just we have actual esk8 tire options now, which I’ve enjoyed over sun mates, hotas, and some of the other traditional ones. They tend to last longer(which makes the price a little better), grip better, and have more balance.
The only “traditional” tires I’ve enjoyed are Skyartpowers old ones, but he stocks novas now I believe. They also only lasted about 800km, but they did grip well and where balanced for rounded tires.
Most of this thread just comes down to “rubber tires good”
Idfk what the other compound is but it sucks
How about those Meepo racing tires? How are they performance and enurance wise? Do they fit normal 50mm hubs like the old TB ones. Does anyone have experience running those meepo tires on the TB hubs with tubes?
Those will not fit on on regular hubs, only extra wide. I know some like them, but I wasn’t a fan of my set.
ok Thx
Currently, what’s the options for tubeless on esk8?
linnpower, madesk8, meepo i think
These are 3 tubeless options.
There are a few significant differences.
Linnpower - Lightest, quick release rim design, not as robust as other two, fits both 22mm and 28mm OD bearings (copied from MAD Tubeless wheels). Dual humps on rim to retain tire even when flat. Good warranty. A few different colors.
MAD Tubeless - Most robust design - most suitable for racing and hard riding. 22mm and 28mm OD bearings. Dual humps on rim to retain tire even when flat. Black only.
Meepo - About same weight as MAD tubeless. Only fits 22mm OD bearings. No humps. Tire is not as secure if it goes flat. Good luck with warranty.
Hmm, these are all road slicks though. I’m looking for tubeless with more tread. I’d love to use them but I just don’t live somewhere where slick tires is a good idea.
What a coincidence that one of these has no negatives
