Pneumatic Wheel Compendium (Serious)

Depending on which tires you compare, there is not a huge difference going from 9“ to 10“ either.

I‘d go with the 9“ trampa mudplugger as a good allrounder, or the 9“ mbs if they are on sale now.
I don’t think 10“ are really needed in most cases. If you want to go big, go gokart tires. They are heavy, but they are also a totally different league. They are tube less and made for higher speeds. Never had such a balanced ride like with my gokart tires straight away.

My bergs wobble af, I can’t go comfortably over 29 or 30 without feeling awful wobbling

Mine were like that as well. They became much better when I increased the diameter of the inner part of the rim with some strips of tape. That made the tires center better (run true).

Balancing the wheels after that, with further fine tune balancing effect from Slime basically eliminated all vibrations from my Bergs.

I feel like there are huge differences between 8", 9" and 10" tires.
The increase of air volume almost doubles.

Ride feel wise:

I didn’t notice a huge difference between 8 and 9" on road except the weight. They do better offroad and minimize the bumps a bit. I imagine 10" would be to heavy for my liking unless I needed it to stay grounded to nasty paths.

in the end we are still riding on fixed axles so never expect to ride like a car on pillows anyways.

I’ve got Kenda brand gray ribbed 200x50 tires with the same “N.H.S.” mark on them. They are being sold by a guy on ebay with thousands of new old stock. Someone opined that he thought it meant they were made for, or purchased by the British National Health Service. After seeing it on these, I think i probably means something along the lines of Not for Highway Service. “N.H.S.” looks a lot less scary than “Not for highway service” when you’re mounting it on something you indeed do want to ride/skate/drive on the road.

That tread pattern screams mobility scooter to me.

I’ve gotten tons of tires with NHS on them in 8" and 9". Seems more like a liability coverage attempt. I’ve got thousands of miles on them with no issue :man_shrugging:

Even mbs tires have it on them

What are your opinions on the qing da / clever 200x50 wheels?
Specifically these ones

Good? Bad? Meh?

Edit: @Venom121212 @mishrasubhransu I saw you got these, are they any good?

Weird, the tread for those is exactly the same as the metro 155’s.

My board hit a snag for a bit and I haven’t gotten to try them out yet :pensive:

My tipo came with the innova inlines but they’re pretty worn down so ordered a set off Frederic, it’s all snow and slush here right now so guess I wont be able to try them out before the spring :confounded:

I have set of used evolve 7" as well but from what I’ve read they have pretty high rolling resistance

I mean weren’t the Kenda K909s that everyone uses nowadays originally designed for powerchairs and mobility scooters? On Kenda’s site they’re grouped with wheelchair tires.

Sure but I don’t see hardly anyone running that concentric ring pattern on the tires like I normally see used on mobility scooters.

A large chunk of smoothed rubber with a few small grooves seems less sketchy to me than a large chunk of ringed rubber with no way for water to escape.

Could be wrong but I’ve been steered away from that specific tread pattern by @ryend I believe. Sorry if it wasn’t you.

I rode 7in (175x50) all 2018-2019. Switching to 8in (200x50) this year, felt like going from an ox cart to a Cadillac. Not a completely fair comparison, as I always rode the 7in tires at 60psi, started at 50psi with the 200x50s, eventually lowered to 36-40psi. Starting Labor Day (Late August) I started riding a new mountainboard with 9in MBS T2s at 36psi. Even cushier, stupid grip, but my gawd are they heavy in comparison. I’ll probably keep them on the mountainboard, but see no need for that sort of meat on a “normal” longboard. Unless you plan on serious bush riding, or plan to stud them, I feel that anything larger than 200mm is a waste. The mountainboard on 9in tires is vastly less efficient than either of my 8in tire boards now. 25-27wh/mi is typical on the 9s. 15-20wh/mi on the 8s.

MBS at least has the guts to print it long-hand.

I haven’t gotten to try them either.

Same tread on both their tire sizes. Same producer, but the 155s are newer so they had them branded. They’re good tires, very durable. A bit hard, but can be run flat if needed.

Just may try these bargain 7 dollar 10 inch otc tires on my fivestars that are still in packaging. Will report results!
