Pneumatic Wheel Compendium (Serious)

Any chance of some drawings?

For those who slime the tires, any had liquid leaking? What does that mean? That my slime gone bad or that the hole are too big?

My board sat for more than a week and one tire has several wet green spots, still same pressure as the others

I had some leaks as well. If the air pressure is (almost) not affected then it usually means that the hole was bigger than a tiny puncture and slime could leak before it finally sealed the hole. So you should be good but better monitor pressure in the near future.

What also sometimes happens with slime is that it blocks the valve and air leaks, actually I have exactly this issue with one valve which I need to replace, fortunately a valve is by far the cheapest spare part of the whole board.

What I recognized after weeks/months of no riding (e.g. winter) is that the slime clots and the wheels are very unbalanced but after rotating and shaking the slime with a nice off-road ride it’s fine again.

I have some tubes filled with slime since over 2 years so the life time of slime is at least 2-3 years, probably longer.

On some tubes I also lost all the slime due to too many punctures (green dots everywhere) but still airtight, just refilled slime.

May want to replace the tubes once a year. You could really build up lots of slime in a tube and add lots of rotational weight.

Is this a good deal?

My normal amazon supplier sells that tread in a slick harder compound and its branded clever and they are my favorite. They usually sell at ~$12 each though (tire and tube).

I’m going to buy those and see how they compare because only 3rd party sellers are selling my normal ones and I need some replacements anyway.

Wow got here today and I opened them up.

They’re branded NHS which I’ve used before and been happy with. They do have a weird texture on the slicks that is new to me though. They feel slightly softer than the hard compound I normally get but still harder than many other tires I’ve received.

They are cut well and evenly too which is nice.

I am going out of town for the weekend but will be trying them out soon.

I just got the Clever branded ones from ebay a set of 4 tire+tube for $50. I love my 6" clevers, so hopefully these are as good. I know you like them.

Yeah that’s a nice price!

Not sure if they fit in here too, but well, they are pneumatic wheels  so I just got this 11“ wheels.

They are a bit on the heavier side thou

That’s 4 wheels with hubs.

Compared to 8“

No inner tubes needed on those wheels and they are rated for max 150km/h.
They are the most balanced pneumatic wheels I did ride so far.

Ordered from a local Gokart shop.
Don’t think they do ship internationally, but will add the link non the less

@Venom121212, have you tried these tires with stretch hubs yet? If so, how much stretching is desirable? I am going to make 3D printed adapters for the MBS wheels.

I just printed out the bearing spacers and then thought about printing the stretching adapters. Sigh! Now I have to print longer bearing spacers.

Printed in Alloy 910.

I have not tried stretching them at all

How did you mount them?

With an adapter. Something like this

For the people in the USA, what’s the best source for 2x6" pneumatic inner tubes. Aliexpress is one source but it seems kinda expensive at $7.45 (5.45+2.00) per piece.

$3.71 + very little in shipping.

I’ve got some state side I could send ya, but shipping kinda kills it since these are so cheap. Hit me up if you don’t want to wait.

I’ve always just sent a DM to dickyho. He charged me $5 for every 2pcs of 6X2 tubes I bought from him that way.

I’m not sure if anyone cares, but I got a grommet set so that I could find the size needed for my Bergmeisters.

The set I bought from Timo right before he moved, came with grommets instead of the orings on the valve stems, and I’ve got sets of Bergs without anything.

So, in case anyone wants to know:

I can’t decide between 9" or 10" tires. I’m somewhat worried about the balance of 10" at speed so perhaps 9" would be better in agility and high speed dynamics but I feel like the jump from 8"
to 9" isn’t going to get enough of what I want out of them for non-paved surfaces. Not to mention the added height on an already somewhat tall board.

Trails can be pretty rocky around here and the added width and diameter of the 10’s would be plusher than 9’s. I’m just not sure it makes sense for the 30 mile an hour cruising I do most of the time getting to the trails and rocky dirt.

Can anyone chime in who has tried tires of each size to help me make a decision?
