Pneumatic Wheel Compendium (Serious)

I did around 30km and reached 55 km/h on this setup: 3.75 inch 3DS hubs with printed spacers and 9 inch Trampa tires. No problems so far, but I still don’t feel confident in them. I am thinking going back to 8 inch just for the peace of my mind.

@Sender which pulleys did you use with kaly hubs?

Kalys.

LMK if you need some.

TBH I haven’t decided if I’m going to buy those hubs yet. I was just wondering if they fit either rockstar or superstar pulleys

Does anyone have experience with flipsky 7 inch wheels?

Tires are from sunmate, but the hubs seem different from chinese superstars.

ja, no plastic.

Anybody know if there are hubs bigger than 4" ?

I’m thinking bigger hubs and less rubber would make for better large diameter road wheels

This is the closest I’ve seen to available options. They offer 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8" hubs and tires to match them.

The rims don’t look split to me though so flats would be a real issue

Rims:

Some are way too wide but some are manageable widths

We’re approaching @kook territory…

Hmmm. Looks like the tires might be above 10" though? I’ll have to dig into it on a desktop.

Why what does @kook have to do with it?

He comes from the dirt track racing community and might have go kart knowledge

So I’m thinking possibly the xiaomi scooter hubs might be a way to go. Possibly even a build with the hub motors… but for now even just the rims with the low Profile air tires would be sweet…

sorry… different type of dirt racing background and only shifter kart pavement knowledge… but I’m looking in at where you guys are going…

Hey guys

So I am keen for some 9 or 10 inch wheels to fit my Trampa for rough as guts offroad (Perth, Australia) so they need to handle sand and sharp rocks. The cost has been my main deterrent from jumping on some Megastars but with the new Phatlads they are finally in a reasonable price range.

What would the brains trust think of pairing Phatlads with something like this from upthread? I can’t find any schematics or measurements for the Phatlads so dimensions may be a gamble. Open to suggestions as well.

Ok kids.
all of you very smart kids.

battery efficiency wise.
will a Kenda Tire be better than the Clever 200x50 knobby tires?

or the other way around?

or probably won’t matter???

Any slicks will should be better for mileage than a similar specd knobby.

@Trampa

as they are offset, are they less wide bearing to bearing than let’s say the superstar, or is it the same ?

Same bearing to bearing dimensions, but they feature a wider seat for the tire, compared to Superstars.
