Other wheels for Hoyt 5 inch tires?

I’m sure the Hoyt rims are nice but $250 for a set of 4 rims is a bit steep, wondering if there are any other cheaper, (plastic?), rims that would fit? I think they need a 3 inch diameter rim, not sure how wide. Are there any other 5 inch numie tires?

There was a limited run of some really nice rims a little while ago by a forum member, they had these chrome hubcaps on them. Looks really slick with whitewalls.

If I could only remember the name of them I’d link them.

I’ve been out of the game for a minute, but Hoyt still don’t have nylon wheels available for the 5"? OOF

I ran hoyt 5 tires on bergmeister hubs for a few months, it was a little finnicky to set them up since I kinda had to half inflate them to get them to center on the hubs then fully inflate them to my desired PSI but other than that they performed great.

Looks as if they were for 6 inch and larger tires so I assume they wouldn’t fit the Hoyts.

They fit haggy tires and clever 6x2’s both of which have similar inner diameters to the hoyt tires. Same goes for the bergmeister hubs which also fit the haggy tires and clever 6x2’s but they also fot the hoyt tires just fine. If memory serves the retro rollers might have been a bit wider than the bergs or hoyt rims so they may not fit the same sonce the hoyt tires are quite thin

So you were able to fit them on a 3.5 inch diameter hub?

No, the bergs and retro rollers are smaller, just shy of 3 inches in diameter iirc

*just checked the retro rollers thread, looks like they’re 2.8"

Oh, so some 6 inch tires use a smaller hub? I thought it was standard of 3.5 or so.

Some do some dont, iirc 6 shooter hubs also fit clever tires which might mean they also could fit the hoyts, cant say for sure though, they might be too wide and I’ve only really used the 5’s on my berg rims and actual 5 inch hubs

Those got canceled. I messaged Hoyt about them in August and heard back in October that they got canceled because the nylon hubs kept cracking. Not a lot of buffer between the road and the hub was the problem.

Those sold out a long while ago and I payed 265 euro plus shipping for mine so they were def more than $250 for a set.
