Thx @rich that’s exactly how I though it is.
Unfortunately that means also no etoxx hubs for me than.
I wrote the idea of using wider hubs off because I thought stretching the tire out like that would lead to side wall failure. I read a few articles of people doing this on other vehicles but in general it was frowned upon.
Could just have been puritans though right? @rich chuck shitloads of miles on and let me know what happens please. I trust you’re the kind of guy that will bash them around and not treat them too delicately.
Really want this to work.
I’m going to look like a pregnant whale with 9" tires on the fivestar hubs.
@rich the fivestars are about 50mm wide, what are the rockstars 2s?
Rockstar IIs are like 40mm wide.
Nothing happened ![]()
I was riding the 8" Aliexpress clones (nylon) for at least 6 months on the E-Toxx hubs without problems. Yeah they chunked but that is the bad quality of the tire, they are also hard as a rock.
But I can’t speak about soft thin tires, now I use 8" MBS T1 rubber tires but not enough long time experience yet. But it’s my new favorite tire. On the same gravel paths where I felt every single stone with the Aliexpress tires I ride on clouds now, it’s like day and night. Of course tire sealant is a must with thin tires.
outer width is 43mm
inner width is 33mm.
That’s awesome. Thank you.
Let us know how it goes on those softer tires please.
Just letting you guys know I’m trying a super secret diy method out after Christmas and will only post results and the method if it works well.
If it sucks, forget this post existed.
Edit, I couldn’t wait and it’ll be here in a week
Can one of you fine gents with rockstar pros (metal ones) tell me outer bearing to outer bearing distance of the hub please?

I can’t find a purrrrrfect match. The oil slicks look primarily gold, then purple, then blue to me.
I never knew there were so many variants of chrome.

Is there a material you can use to 3D print stuff that would look like that?
Not really. Metallics are full of filters and they don’t usually make fancy colors in strong materials.
I just want one of those bumpers you made but don’t want a black one on my oil slick truck
Feel free to look around but the coolest filaments I’ve found are glitter, heat or uv sensitive, and ombre.

That’s an ombre or gradient filament. They print like shit unless it’s a huge piece unfortunately. If I made a handle with that, you’d barely see a color change.
