Obsidian | 2nd build | 39" double kicktail | 12s2p | Single 6355

My second build. Obsidian. After my first build ended up being a 33lbs monstrosity I wanted something lighter and easier to carry. Also wanted something with a kicktail since I come from a background in street skating missed having one.

First build Is the one on top

Cad Designs. The build came out almost exactly as I intended.

Printer ender 3 pro. slicer cura. PETG

printed in different orientations to maximize strength.
printed in 5 pieces. jointed the sections of the enclosure together with 3dsimo 3d pen as well as fix issues left over form 3d printing. used superglue for the braces(the enclosure in the pictures is a for a different project).

Battery by chibatterysystems. I used silicone to seal it from water.

Used a combination of hot glue and custom 3d printed zip tie holders for cable management. Still looks like a mess but at least its a mess that’s anchored down.

Update: went for the first ride today.

The board ran well for the first 10 mins. breaking and torque was good.

then I started noticing a horrible grinding noise. turned out to be this.

the bigger issue is the performance started to fall drastically after going up two steep hills in my area.

seems like I have an overheating problem.

vesc settings:
foc sensorless
motor current 55A
break current 55A
abs current 90A
battery max 50A
battery regen -10A

is this to much current for this vesc? or is this just typical of this vesc?

I think you might be getting some overheating, 82C on the mosfets is pretty hot
