the wire from my inline fuse holder and bms which go to it are both 12 gauge so wasn’t sure
Anyone run two different single ESCs together over CAN before? I’ve got a Maker X mini FOC plus and a Torque6 ESC that’s lost its usb c plug. Bad idea?
Haven’t tried two different ones myself but maybe you could get a UART Bluetooth receiver to program the torque6 and not have to deal with CAN? I almost exclusively use the Unity’s built in BT and the VESC tool android app
I don’t see anything horrible about the mismatched ESC over CAN idea but not an expert
Yeah its no problem providing theyre the same version of VESC (v4 with v4 or v6 with v6). You just have to be even more careful when doing your setup that all settings are identical sans VESC ID.
Thanks for reply. And yeah I was running the Torque6 ESC fine with BLE module but when I updated firmware my BLE module wouldn’t connect
. So only chance I have of making use of it is to try and connect over CAN with a different ESC. Maybe I can then get the BLE module working again and be able to use it as a single or just use it with my Maker X Mini FOC and run dual
You’d think they scotch taped the USB connectors on those TB6s… This is the third or fourth case I’ve seen of the connector breaking.
Yeah it broke the first time I plugged it in
Anyone have any info on v-belt guys… I ordered belts from them last month on the 28th and haven’t gotten a single notification other than the order is in processing. Anyone with any advice or estimated wait times?
Weird, when I’ve ordered from them in the past they’ve been pretty quick
Its just getting annoying ha, need new belts and I heard they were good…but these wait times are nuts. I’m wondering if I should just order from somewhere else
What size do you need
Only just now thinking of this for some reason.
I used to build vapes. Was pretty much dedicated 18650 gang because handheld device. But like. Is there a specific reason I haven’t heard a single mention of 26650s? Are they generally low discharge? Just wondering really. Oh or how about those tiny shitty lil 23xxx that the pipe mods used to use? I figure they’re just not as energy dense as 18650s because size, but I could also imagine that you could vertically put them across almost an entire deck(like iunno a fuckin 20s10p?? On a shortboard?) if you’re one of those cool guys who can build batts…
They’re huge, and don’t have enough capacity. I built a 12s6p of the A123 cells for my friend and boy is his enclosure huge. We’re talking like easily 2 inches deep required.
The A123’s are only 2500mAh but since he’s got 6p he can still get 20 miles pretty easily on his urethane setup.
On the plus side, his pack is “technically” capable of like 300A continuous but I only built it for like 150a, but he will never pull close to that with his setup.
I don’t think you understand how big this is lol
There are some high capacity ones but they have super low amp draw
Yeah I figured… when I made vapes avoided them for the same reason. Rather put 2 18650s side by side. I still stand by my short bat for a short board theory… but it needs some kind of nese like system to be easy enough for me to do it. Literally just line the entire bottom of the board with 23???s except where you need a bms an esc and baseplates and whatever other tech you run and enclose it. Run channeled risers straight out the enclosure… hmmmmm… I shall research this!! There’s a lot of math to compare the actual difference power wise to 18650s…
26650 is very close to the size of a double stack of 18650s, and I think the double stack would have more power per size. There are a few good cell options that size, but I think they’re expensive / hard to come by. I have considered it though when planning builds!
**13650’s. Thats what I was thinking of when I said 23xxx. I dumb. Forgive.
Also @ShutterShock and @rusins thank you both you’ve been mad helpful to me since before I even signed up. Also first place I can be just kai. Im just kai so thats cool. Yall and Bryan and the rest of the esk8 shamans are amazing and I wanna be just like yall some day.
2 more noob questions while I’m here. One. Im trying to learn to badly 3d model. I’ve seen the enclosure threads, imma hit em all up, but I need a really specific thing and im ordering an ender 3 like tonight but the last time I 3d modeled I was modding halo 1 and was 12. Is there anyone besides foster who’s good at that? @Fosterqc can I send you sketches to 3d model for me?? If so message me and I will pay you well(per job, half up front) and never stop bothering you ever again for the rest of your life.
Second or third question: HOW THEEEEE FUCK DO I CRUSH THIS GLASS I GOT INTO FRIT A HAMMER DID NOTHING AND IT BROKE MY MORTAR AND PESTLE
They actually got here today a bit after that post… a bit ironic ha but i appreciate the offer to help! Very kind of you
Oh wow, those cells look so cute

There are lots of people on here who can 3d model. I don’t, so I’ll let someone else give a recommendation for learning resources. As for glass frit – apparently self crushing it doesn’t yield as consistent results as just buying it already as frit. So might be worth just buying it.
how crap is your PC?
Lots of people are pretty good at it
I’ve been doing cad for almost 10 years now lol
Get Fusion 360, there’s tons of tutorials on basic stuff and it’s pretty easy to use. You could try checking out my 3D printed enclosure video, I covered a little bit about cad in it.
This was a pretty simple enclosure compared to the other three I’ve made
