No when they are spun up you can see it spins faster one looks much slower
What motors are they?
just mentally preparing for an eMTB build and have considered the Matrix 2 trucks, but i see them alot on Carver builds, and more Trampa (such as the Vertigo trucks) on proper eMTB’s. Has anyone got experience of both and can testify to strengths/weakneses of either, and ultimately which one will be a better option for really gnarly off-road use. I’m around 70KG if that is at useful to know…
gonna come down to preference.
springs are better at self centering/applying traction which benefits a solid axle, so it has some pros in certain kinds of riding, but also tends to lend itself to the feedback loop that results in speed wobbles. If you get spring trucks (trampas or matrix I), you can run springs/dampeners OR barrels, so you can find out what you like best.
I would go with trampa. I’ve used both and have to say that mbs does its job but trampa does it better.
With trampa i had no QC issues, no cracked plastic baseplate, no bent hanger, no rubbing parts causing a washer to eat through the upgraded metal baseplate.
Trampa offers more options regarding stiffness (Springs vs barrels)
Mbs has the shock blocks but I’m not sure if you can upgrade to springs as the older gen mbs had.
That all can change with the matrix 3 releasing this/Next year. No infos yet.
For me, trampa trucks are the way to go for now.
thanks @RyEnd and @xsynatic - Trampa do sound like the better option, though id not even heard of Matrix 1’s (in fact haven been able to find them on the MBS site). Matrix 3’s though… going to be waiting anyway, so will keep that option open. Dont like not being able to change/upgrade parts of the truck, so Trampa is def ahead for now
Matrix I (MBS spring truck). Needs a metal baseplate upgrade, but you can put Trampa barrels on 'em.
cheers mate
(pretty cheap too!)
I ordered a DS jet spud enclosure for a future build; should I order the BMS (smart bms, LLT – also taking recommendations for smaller ones) and ESCs as well? Or should I wait until the enclosure arrives, and get a better idea of how well things will fit? And when should i order cells in this process? The enclosure is gonna be a lot smaller than the previous one I worked in, and I don’t wanna go through the hassle of returning things that don’t fit
Side note, does Kevin still sell fixed baseplates?
10s daly bms 59 x 34 x 9mm is pretty small if u don’t need all that wireless connection function, they also have a bluetooth version which is slightly bigger (can’t remember the exact size for the smarter one)
makerx mini foc is only 49.3 x 49.3 x 10.3mm, stacking two together is still thinner than a 21700 cell
if u also make use of P-clip and riptide tunnel riser, most of the motor wires can be orangized neatly outside of enclosure, that will also help with having less stuff inside the enclosure if u’ve a big ass battery planned for it.
Does Daly have a 12s Bluetooth bms?
I’ll look into using this as well, thanks
they have all the S
Bro put an Allen key in my charge port (dunno why) fuse blew and gotta change it now
How can I calculate what fuse I need
4 amp charger
12s6p pack
Also any difference between the big fuses and the cylinder ones?
At first i would give your bro a big ol’ slap
Def
Actually was quite forgiving
Then what 20 amps good?
Thank goodness you had a fuse
I’d use a 12A fuse in case you move up to an 8A charger, fast blow.
Yep trying to explain to him now that the fuse saved the pack from going boom boom
How to explain to him short circuiting
Any anecdote
12amp enough for a 8 amp charger?
what kind of person would stick a metal into a charge port
