Noob question thread! 2020_Summer

Easiest solution is just to not connect the sensors, and not use the sensors.

I had an extra motor around that was missing a hall sensor. Soldered a new one on and voila

It’s weird, it was working before

I replaced it with another motor but I’d still like to have that one functional

then the burning question…

why don’t you figure out whats wrong with it, and fixerate it?

Well yeah haha. It did go through an ESC fire at one point. I’m just going to start by cutting the sensor cable higher up towards the motor and replacing the wires up to that point

Are these (above link) the same as these =

Can you swap the motor/esc wires around to reverse the rotation of the motor? or does that screw up the detected values? using sensored foc. should i just reverse the motor direction in the vesc tool?

Yes, you can manually swap or simply reverse in Vesc Tool.

would that not mess with the readings from the hall sensors?

No not really. You will have to redo detection though.

I recommend swapping 2 phase wires instead of doing it via software. I’ve had the settings on my board randomly revert to default before and it would have been nice to not have a motor spinning the wrong direction.

Ah I see the question hidden in there now.

@kadeanderson one is just an extender, one is an adapter that changes the connector.
