Absolutely loving these trucks. They are the new standard for me for off-roading or any build where a high degree of agility is desired. I added a third bushing at the front to increase the high-speed stability and off-road comfort without sacrificing any turning. So my current setup is (all Krank Tall Barrels):
FRONT
Far-side: Red (84A) Tall Barrel
Near-side, board-side: White (87A) Tall Barrel
Near-side, road-side: Green (90A) Tall Barrel
REAR
Near-side, board-side: White (87A) Tall Barrel
Near-side, road-side: Green (90A) Tall Barrel
Far-side: White (87A) Tall Barrel
A lil late of a reply but I swap between both the airs and the RTKPs on my Predator depending on the event Iām going to. Airs are definitely more plush and give you a good amount more ground clearance (both deck height and kingpin height) but you sacrifice the responsiveness and turning circle of the RTKPs. For example at Eeb-it this year I had a great setup with the RKTPs for the short e-prix track (placed 6th overall after another podium lockout by the organisers ) but I felt they struggled a lil bit more going over the really rough stuff on the enduro track, with my rear kingpin catching on rocks and stuff.
Yeah I still love the overall handling of these trucks but the kingpin is an issue for off-road especially with smaller tires. Definitely for 8". For 9" itās still not great. The board I currently have them on has 10" and itās bearable.
I am currently putting a road cruiser board together for someone else with the RTKP 45-degree baseplates and I suspect itās going to be great.
interesting - I havenāt done much off roading on mine considering I live in NYC; but they have been great for riding in the city since they are so wide but still handle really well. I used to run MBS Matrixās on my board but I so much prefer these
Compared to channels Iād pick RTKPs no matter what situation Iām in, imo they are just better but on really rough stuff the dampining qualities and higher clearance make PKP a slightly more attractive option.
