NEWBEE COMPANY AND RTKP TRUCK WARNING

This is a warning post against Newbee as a company and especially their RTKP trucks. Back in February I worked with them and ordered a single rtkp truck with the 45° base plates planning to use it to attach a gear drive and put on my Eovan. I went off of the pictures that they had on their website, which was very clear in my conversations with them (this part will be important later on in this post) which showed the hangars with a square profile all the way to the ends. They also had an option for 10mm axles, which one would rightfully assume is 10mm the whole length of the axle, as there was nothing on the website to say otherwise.

I ordered the truck, and about a month later received it, opened the box to see something for all intents and purposes completely different than what I ordered, the hangar is not square all the way to the ends as shown on their website and discussed with them, the hangar itself does not look the same (does not have the cutouts shown on the website, so assumed to be heavier), the axles are only 10mm partially, for about 2/3 of each axle before jumping up to 12mm, which again was not disclosed in conversations or on the website, and both axles have corrosion (rust) completely surrounding the circumference of each axle, and these trucks (and one would assume axles) are supposedly new.

I of course tried contacting them for a refund and return, first on their Facebook messenger, of which it took them 6 days to even notice, much less respond (only with “Hi friend”, nothing more) I also contacted them via email and was met with resistance, pushback, blame shifting/blaming me, and excuses (“There will be some rust on the 10mm shaft, which cannot be controlled, This does not affect use.” “Friend, You should have looked at the product picture before bought it.” “The advertisement we sent is round at both ends.
If you have any questions or requirements for compatibility, you should ask clearly before placing an order.”) I pushed back as well, reminded them I ordered from their website which showed a different product/different version, had made that clear and directly said and showed it before ordering with screenshots of their site. They refused a full refund, even when I said I do not want the truck and want to return it.

I will include all of the screenshots and pictures I can and if any updates happen (and anyone here is interested in them) can update this topic if wanted. I am not the only one who has had issues with newbee and these trucks recently either, there is also a post on FB I can link here from someone else who also has had issues.

I hope this post helps and serves as a warning not to waste your money and time on this scammy company

Oof well if this post is what prevented you from wasting your money (or at least one of the things that did) I’m thankful, I may not be getting my money back from this scammer but at least I can hopefully prevent others like you from getting scammed too

 lol wtf
Honestly I would have responded to him with something along the lines of “here’s a tip, don’t beg for tips, and don’t make shit products and scam people!” I don’t understand tip culture anymore, I swear everyone wants tips for even existing (this is coming from someone who worked in service jobs for years)

I will have look at this, work out a solution.

Now they decide to look in to it

I’m calling it now, it’s all bullshit. They’re trying to save face.
Either that or the “solution” will be the one they already offered me: a measly 30 bucks

Ya I’m still not getting it till i hear it’s resolved

Imo you should just star fully away, I can send links of the other times they’ve screwed up

I agree that Newbee’s service is disappointing.

A few years ago, I ordered a MakerX D100S from them and installed it according to the manual (using the custom firmware on their website). However, after riding very little (under 100km), a fire broke out in the derailleur. (For reference, I have experience setting up various derailleurs, including the Trampa Original Vesc Mk5, Tenka, Flipsky Esc, Stormcore, etc.) I complained about this afterwards, but they only said they would inquire with MakerX and took the stance that “we are just the seller” regarding refunds or compensation. I only bought it from Newbee because it was slightly cheaper than the MakerX website, but I ended up wasting my money pointlessly. I even gave them a tip while asking them to replace the bullet connectors. In the end, I gave up, replaced it with a Flipsky FT60BD to fix the board, and sold the board because I couldn’t stand the sight of it. I am still using the 4GS on my Lacroix. I considered switching to a Falcon Drive, but the maintainability is somewhat convenient, and I have gotten somewhat used to the loud noise (after about 2,500 km of use). I think it is cool to see Newbies always developing new things and exchanging feedback with people on the forums. However, I hope you will look even cooler with better service when we become customers as well.

Newbee has nothing to do with how your D100s performed mate lol

@ OP

For what its worth, the actual error seems like a listing error. I have the old RKTP, which do NOT have round ends, but it appears the new ones do. Mine look like the picture that you thought you were buying rather than the new one thats up on the site right now

I do wonder why the axles look so bad though

Hmmmmm as the seller they kinda do. Anything that you’d buy from a brick and mortar store, you’d return to the same store if you had an issue.

It’s up to the reseller to wear the responsibility of customer service/returns directly with the customer.

Of course, the breakdown of the D100S has nothing to do with Newbie, but since I purchased it from Newbie, I think they should have helped me communicate with MakerX, regardless of whether the cause was a product defect or my own fault.

Just wanted to throw this out there as another data point — I’m not trying to downplay the original poster’s experience at all, and that definitely sounds frustrating.

That said, I personally had a really good experience with NewBee recently. I bought a set of gear drives from them, and one of the drive gears had a small nick near the hole drilled for the set screw. It caused things to bind up a bit, so I reached out to NewBee and they took full ownership of it right away as the issue was clearly a manufacturing defect.

They sent out a replacement gear very quickly, and overall I felt like they handled the issue well. Based on my experience, I’d definitely buy from them again.

Again, not saying the OP’s situation isn’t valid — just wanted to share that my own experience with them was positive. I am way surprised they did not accept the return…

Lucky you! I bought an ESC from Newbee along with their heat sink, and they weren’t compatible with each other. I wrote an email immediately after receiving them, and despite follow-up reminders, I never got a reply.
