New version 84V/200A,100V/300A VESC motherboard

Hi Lucky, i am instesting if your work, i analyse and tuned many vesc since years, i have my company of high performance Escooter préparation

it is possible to exchange in private about some projects and topics ?

price for the 100300HP?

Sure, I’m willing to discuss VESC development with anyone, I’ll send you a private message.

I’m sorry, I don’t know the price yet. I can only base my guess on it being around $200.

Please consider improving your isolation and creepage distances, those power poles makes me real nervous.

Thanks for your reminder. The photo I took is an incomplete version, which caused you misunderstanding.

At present, the distance between the copper column and the edge of the shell is 1mm, and the distance between the top of the copper column and the shell plane is 2mm. In the finished product, we will fill the gap with insulating glue (Kafuter 6704 MS glue), and its dielectric strength can reach 12KV/MM, so I think it is no problem for DC 100V voltage (the picture shows the glue I added manually, which is too ugly. The finished product will look better).

And we will give away copper noses, installation screws and other accessories to facilitate customers to carry out subsequent wiring installation as much as possible.

Are you following any of the electronics standards in your design or is this based on something else?

If you look at IPC-2221B, in the table for electrical conductor spacing.
For a bare conductor in sealevel the standard sudgest minimum= 0.6mm spacing and for elevation above 3000m= 3.2mm.

If you also look at UL 1973 or 2580.
It sudgests 3.2mm between conductors in air at 100VDC. (for conductors in PCB its different and depends on pollution degree and coating, I would sudgest atleast 2.5mm between polarities of 100V)

While 2mm might be enough, if you have space to increase it without causing any significant design change. I would increase it to 3.2mm to be worry free. We’ve had designs that enforce twice the recommended insulation and creepage that still over years of use ended up creating a short circuit through a PCB laminate due to dust and other factors.

Thank you very much for your concern about this product.
The standards we refer to are GB7251.1-2013 and GB 4943.1-2022.

Please do not ignore that 100V belongs only to ultra-low voltage electricity, and you have also mentioned the issue of materials. Also, please do not ignore the electrical standards of FR4, let alone the insulation material covering the gap that I mentioned.

For specific usage, we also welcome ESK8 friends to test it.

It is worth mentioning that I am applying to the company for an activity to provide some VESC motherboards for ESK8 friends to test for free. The specific content of the activity will be announced once the application is successful.

Thank you again for your contribution. As mentioned when introducing the motherboard, I have received a lot of suggestions. I am very grateful to my ESK8 friends for their suggestions, which include yours. Thank you to everyone who provided suggestions. We will also continuously improve and perfect our products according to the needs of our customers.

Yeah, I’m just curious and trying to help

This varies depending on country and industry. Most automotive standards consider anything above 60Vdc as high voltage.

Looking forward and good luck!

Good day Lucky,

I’m interested to buy 25 pcs of 100v300a SECS. Could you give me some information about price and how to get the sample?

I have a few concerns/critiques/suggestions regarding the 84200HP

due to the bus bar soldering process or something the alu pcbs aren’t very flat, it would be a major improvement if they were grinded flat or something similar (“lapping” them flat), this seems to be a reason why some people break the ESC’s as some mosfets don’t get properly cooled as the pcb isnt touching everywhere, and a lot of thermal paste under it isn’t a fix

another thing is ofcourse the lack of mounting in the middle of the pcb, like a M3 screw or 2 could probably make a good difference, especially when the esc heats up, to keep it flat

another good idea is to have a screw or 2 that goes from the top board to the heatsink, just to be safe the pin headers can’t detach

I also have the older 84200HP’s, i haven’t used them because of the lack of ceramic caps which is a great concern

I also haven’t opened them yet or anything, but i know 100% forsure it doesn’t have them, they are an early April order

i mentioned to the Makerbase store i have bought 2 84200HP early models and explicitly said i didn’t use them yet, 2 75200HPs which i’ve used and 2 84100HP’s i’m using right now in my older escooter (Obarter X3)

and i asked politely even telling i hate to ask for a discount as they’re already cheap if i could get a small discount as i’m willing to buy 2 ceramic cap models, but are basically stuck with 2 old ones I HAVENT used yet cause don’t want to risk it

they said thank you for your recognition of Makerbase products and that’s about it, nothing about a discount or whatever

some other critiques i saw on even the 84200HP ceramic cap model: it only has one gate resistor per pair, please do two ones per phase side (one per mosfet)

some other suggestions: maybe 3x 10AWG or something instead of a big 6AWG, kind of like the official Vesc 75/300, they use 3 wires per phase and 6 for the input

the firmware on the 84100HP’s reads voltage too high, over 55V while it is at 54.4V, may be the same for the 84200HP

i’m sorry for all the things, i’m very stoked about the product, but it has some things that certainly could be better

i hope to see atleast the flatter pcb and a gate resistor per mosfet though, kind regards

if i get no reply from Makerbase store with a discount i may try to add ceramics myself, i can’t be bothered paying another 260 while i have 240 eur worth of controllers around… but i would rather avoid it for my own safety

just seen the 100300hp standard for sale on AliE. Will a water-cooled version be coming out? I’m hovering over the buy now button!?!
