New Flipsky vx4 IS TRASH (Dangerous!!!) [READ COMPLETELY]

This is exactly what should have happened in the first place.

I suggested this and was called out for bathing opinions

I didn’t change the title out of nowhere. It was suggested that I do so and it made sense at the time. A lot of sense. And to me, it still makes sense. The title as it stands now makes it VERY CLEAR that there is or was discussion and debate over its reliability, and the first post lays that groundwork.

but if we’re on the verge of another fucking insurrection over it, then fine.

I reverted it but tagged the title with READ COMPLETELY because otherwise it’s misleading now.

I still think it’s misleading now but whatever, I suppose we can start a new thread

I suppose a properly titled retort thread may ease some of the confusion, but yeah.

I been having problem with my vx1 and was looking for new remote, Honestly just reading the tile made automatically think the vx4 was bad and stay away from it. Don’t see why not change the tile?! Will take days to go over all the different point of views and feelings about their first experience with the brand and not with the actual product.

Been using a vx4 on both my builds for two solid years with ZERO issues. So I don’t think it’s the remote that’s the problem :man_shrugging:

Maybe you won the Flipsky Lottery.

As a person who had around 30 esc and around the same amount of remotes, I can share my experience:

  1. Remotes- VX1 and VX1 Pro generally good until they fail. they don’t have protections against fast charge and many people burned the power regulator chip by mistake connecting it to over 2A power supply.
Also, they use potentiometer that stop functioning fast if you live near the sea/ high moister areas.
Charge issue happened to me and 5 of my friends, potentiometer issue happened to all of us. we had to use regularly contact cleaner.
on the VX1 Pro- on the second ride it freezes and stop responding. It stayed on 5 days until the battery drained, and I returned this trash.

The VX2 was a little better since it use magnets, as long you don’t drop it no issues. The VX4 use the same potentiometer and 2 died after a while in the place I live.

  1. ESC- over 30 different ESC, the most worked fine from beginning but 5 arrived bricked from them and I couldn’t even flash the bootloader. might be hardware issue.

the biggest issues I had with them:

  • 2 flipsky 6.6 pro died on street setups when the silver capacitors broke from the vibrations and after when I hit a bump they burned
  • 2 flipsky had issue when hitting full throttle one side lost power and throw me on one side. unfortunately it happened on mountainboard with bindings and I got hurt really really bad.
it’s not programming issue for sure, I replaced them with stormcore and maker DV6S and they functioned well until today.

repairing the hardware showed me that their components are pure trash. you can’t get them on DIGIKEY, MOUSER and normal marketplace. they use unknown components you can find on Ali Express in the best case.

for me the two accidents and bad injuries was the point that I stop using their trash ESC, the decision to stop using their remotes was 5 months ago when new VX1 Pro decided to freeze and I couldn’t stop.

if you got one or two and it’s working for you well it’s fine and I’m happy for you. I can just warn anyone that planning on really high power setup to buy better components.

Customer service of Flipsky- the worst I had as well
they never took responsibility on the brand ESC I got from them (short time since the day they ship) you can’t finish your board so fast so until you program it and discover that they not working there is no warranty.

with the frozen VX1 Pro I had, I had many fights with them to get my refund, very poor customer service. had to dispute the transaction.

I have 4 vx1s of which all 4 are dead by now and one of them sent full throttle randomly during my last ride with it multiple times, causing me to fall. I’ve given up on flipsky a long time ago.

If you want something cheap that works - gt2b it is. Can be made much smaller with a 3d printed case.

The VX4s with a hall sensor mod installed should fair decently though. But the stock potentiometer is just as trash as the VX1, and I wouldn’t dare to ride a VX4 without that hall sensor mod that’s for sure.

Any recommendations for this? I’d be very willing to try out this mod

3D servisas make them, cost almost as the remote with shipping.

I would definitely buy them from him but the other hardware of the remote will stay trash.

are they vx1 pro’s?

wondering if they have the same wiring and potentiometer problems of the old vx1.

All of mine are regular vx1s. After how they went I didn’t have the appetite to try the pro version

pro version using a lora chip… that part seems cool radio wise.

My guess would be it would still suffer from that shitty potmeter though. But I just don’t really have the trust to run flipsky stuff nowadays. Kinda considering a vx4 with the 3ds mod just so I have a remote with a screen though for one of my builds if I don’t manage to hunt down a cheap davega after my wallet recovers from the shock esk8con just caused

so this is a vx4 hall sensor mod?

I’ve heard VX4 Pro already comes with an aluminum hall sensor throttle

ig@cmoche_v did a mod of the vx4 into a trigger. replacing the existing pot with the trigger and pot from a Flysky GT3b
