Thank you, its more visible from the video how the metal is deformed. Well wish me luck taking my pack apart.
Might be a stupid question, but what is the best way to get
the cells out of the modules? I put them in the wrong way, and not that all of the spaces are populated nothing really budges. I guess that is a good thing but i canât get them out.
Try a credit card in the center.
For future, a small strip of fiber reinforced tape attached to & underneath the cells with a bit of slack coming out & doubled over on itself so no longer sticky. Pull up on it & battery pops out.
I managed somehow. it was really stuck in there. Another question. Is it important on which side of the cell the tab with the foam is located? I imagine its not important, but it doesnât hurt to ask before i put the cells back in.
Huh. newer mind, my kit came with all the tabs inserted and pre-bent so there is no way Iâm bending them all back and reversing them.
dont matter, haha you already got it
This is after about 1 year of usage 12s8p 21700 p42a cells. Marks are on every cell/tab in the pack. After removing the cells all are within 3.94V and 3.91V.
Hey, Iâm not alone then!
Good photos, you can see the dot pattern from the arcing quite clearly.
I havenât checked mine.
Has this only been noticed on the Molicels? Could it be because theyâre slightly bigger than spec?
I plan to rebuild this battery using nickel strips. Should I run these cells through the âgradâ process on the charger, where the charger will charge the cells to 4.2V, then discharge them and finally charge them again to 4.2V?
i also have these arcing marks in my battery, and some deformation in the modules from the resulting heat.
up until now i sanded them away on each inspection - but for my next build, do you have any hints on how to prevent this ?
I have not figured out whats causing it. I have none such feedback from ebikers. Maybe vibrations? Wander if its on bottom deck batts or top deck too?
Its vibrations, the little arcs are the last place the battery touches the contact before a slight separation, and arc.
E bikes have some suspension, boards hardly anyâŚunless you count the pneumatic tires on some.
Is there a conductive paste? I have no idea.
There are conductive pastes but they will get squeezed out of the connection point when the cell is inserted. Youâll probably still get the same arcing when the vibration starts.
Wouldnât copper foil/shim be best?
Itâs not going to prevent an air gap from forming during shock/vibration. It will just sit against one surface or another, it has no ability to fill in that space that forms.
U gotta try setting it to wumbo
I have a question. I populated the modules with cells and apparently some of the contact touched and this happened. Are the modules still safe to use? Any insight what could have happened? I got all the modules warped in an fire safe blanket. Are the cells still good?
Its fine, just some burned screws
