Correct, the phone gps was inaccurate
This was the data pulled from the wheel
Intro 2 Speed Session in Perth yesterday has got @Tasventouras nipping at me heels! Only had 8 racers down yesterday but everyone getting faster (except me haha).
Tas upgraded to SRB BRPs from @MoeStooge and intantly gone much faster! Almost a second a lap on T Racing so he’s jumped a few places. Then on @Mbrady Chicago Northerly circuit only a few tenths back with low 28s on depleted battery! Those SRBs are easily the best tyre choice for tarmac currently.
Tas has definitely given me a bit of extra motivation as I was very sluggish today only managing high 28s before Tas came across from T Racing and I had to push. Got me down to 28.09 but still several seconds off top tier racers!
Consistency was key to getting top spot on T Racing with weekly and sometimes twice weekly sessions. It is much easier to set the track and sweep it. As much as I love the Chicago Northerly circuit, i just cant get same consistency as it’s a massive task to set up and clean in comparison to a T Race track so it’s weeks in between sessions. But with some extra wide BRPs on the way, I’m hopeful of reeling in a few in front of me (@davidbonde and @fessyfoo
)
.
Andras, one of the local racers took some cool photos yesterday too. Tas getting into the 13s on T Racing:
Tas pushing me on Chicago Northerly circuit:
Just a cool photo while putting extra paint down:
Argh super jealous sounds like a blast. Also, sounds like you need the extra motivation
. It’s good to have someone pushing you, I’m sure it’s also harder being the fastest there.
It’s the beauty of these international time trials! I’d never know how far off the pace I am unless they existed. So it gives me the competition I need. But it is nice to have Tas closing in so we push each other too.
Yeah that jump @Tasventouras made is crazy. If the binding and landsurfs don’t give me similar results I’m gonna have to throw my toys out the cot and buy a super spine ![]()
Nice shot of Tas and I all leathered up for last Megafast ERL event courtesy of the photographer Warrenbphotos.
Decided to convert my commuter into a short track race board from some left over 3-link parts i had lying around from previous upgrades (still needed to purchase a few extra bits but worth it!).
I have the old standard motor mounts on rear but doubled them up to basically make them HD version
. Bolted the radius rods directly to the baseplate too to enable more clearance for the motor mounts so the bracket isnt obstructing motors. It meant i could go nice and low with better ground clearance for mounts too.
Then as I’ve lowered the board, I still wanted plenty of front steer so i flipped the front radius rod bracket (like @zero_ads mentioned in his build thread (who got idea from M Brady I think)).
The return of @DuckBatterySystems limited edition grab handle was very exciting.
I needed to extend the wheelbase with an M Boards extension I got from Tas so i got the deck/wheel clearance. Hopefully the fibreglass job done on this LY Switch deck a while back prevents any damage
. Even with the extension it’s still about 4cm shorter wheelbase than the Semendeed. Should be nice and nimble with softer bushings as well.
So plan is to use this revised build for short track like T Racing as its only geared to 50kph. Will have to commute on my offroad board now as clearance too low on this
.
Hooot, it’ll be nice not to have to swap pinions all the time and have a dedicated board. Curious if this board’s specs will hold up to your other board though.
Yeah im curious too. Only running with 12s5p conpared to 12s8p on Semendeed so battery amps will be lower, but motor amps will be cranked on DV6pro and the gearing is a higher ratio so will hopefully make up for lack of two motors too. Being a bit more nimble i think ill get close to my best T Race times on this (with slicks of course).
If you end up wanting even more turn, you can do what you did in the rear to the front and go without the bracket entirely.
Does your rear bottom out on the links? They seem kind of close like what I used to have, and I did.
Yeah ill see how it feels on a test ride. Only just finished it tonight. And i hope the rear doesnt bottom out on radius rods. Didnt when standing on it and turning on the spot so should be ok.
Pretty happy with first run on this modified board getting a 13.89 sec lap. 0.8sec off my best but pretty good considering peak power recorded tonight was 7kw compared to the 11kw 4wd board.
I really think I can go close to a pb on this. It’s setup more nimble than my 4wd with a shorter wheel base, narrower front track width and lighter with a 12s5p and 2wd. With a good track clean and some fresh tyres (as i was using an old set of BRPs with not much life in them) low 13s definitely possible.
Only negative from the session was the 15T pinions got smashed. I usually run losi pinions but have 10mm shaft motors on this board so bought generic pinions and they suck! So much wear already.
I’m trying some GDS as Losi doesn’t offer 12T. After the I2S session they still look good. Time will tell.
Do the GDS come with 10mm ID options? Would love a link of where you get them if possible? Cheers.
Damn how many miles did this last?
The motor pinion seen above has done 15km of T racing. It’s rubbish. My losi pinions on my 4wd have done hundreds of racing kms and still look new.
Damn unfortunately not
Oh, I wonder if they’re made from a different alloy steel. How do you set your gear mesh?
Ah crap… same brand as those 14t’s?
Just by feel. I like a tiny bit of movement so they spin more freely.
No. These came from China from ebay seller. The 14s i just sold to you were from an RC Hobby store in Oz.
were they sold as “hardened steel” ? or no?
