And I do not… For fuck sakes…

And I do not… For fuck sakes…

DKP on tires is pretty freaking sweet!!!
Feels way loose.
Mega lean.
You can push so much harder on the tires…
Stoked.
As it turns out I don’t skateboard enough…
And I never learned to not try to catch yourself with your arm…
Older, not wiser…
Some boards get fixed.
Some boards go down.
–so it goes…
Today unfortunately it was the turn of the Khymera.
It’s been coming.
But I actually yanked the battery out.
In the sub garage it goes to spend a bit of time in the 50 gallon drum.
This was a 12S4P with 40T cells I built quite a while back on the Duck battery PCB.
I need to look up there to see what board I first made it for.
But it’s been way more than a minute.
And one of the P Groups is way gone. So there it goes.
Batteries, batteries, batteries…
Everywhere batteries.
So thankful for the wild things they allow us to do.
But man, they are a pain in the ass when you feel the need to have 10 electric skateboards…
I have two others I am monitoring closely, the Rally Cat 12s3p 30Q pack, and the Llamas 12s4p 40T pack. Hope they stick around a bit.
Then I have 3 non smart BMS batteries… Of Chinese make… I have In the little boards.
The Surfskate yellow board is has the guts of my wowgo 2S from 6 years ago. It’s a 10s2p with Sanyo cells maybe, it was the 8.5ah version.
I wonder if I need to just toss that battery.
Even though in the rare occasion I get the little board out it runs just fine.
And then the Littles, the Dinghy, and the ATV Ditch Life both have Meepo ER packs, that are 10S2P 40T.
On a positive note I got my little wheel storage rack done.
This was using the Demonseed that got the nose blown out because it ghosted and hit something, when I was messing with remote settings with the wheels on the ground…
There is this thing that happens, that whatever board I worked on more recently, becomes the darling.
I have been really thrilled with the Demonseed DKP in its Gravel friendly form.
I took it to go to PT the other day
And then rolled around for another errand.
Always taking long picturesque routes.
I am far from a speed demon these days, and and totally content to take it mellow and slow.
So I can totally dig these DKP vibes.
And I really appreciate how super nimble the board is.
I am having fun with the deep carves, but I am also impressed on a practical sense, how easy it is to navigate tight turns.
This really is a new thing for me on esk8, having the tires to go most anywhere, but also being able to turn supper snappy.
My other set ups with tires are all giant boards.
So this brave new world I have seen on Evolve commercials for so long, but had not touched is in fact super cool.
Something pretty special happened today!!!
Ken, the guy that started it all with the Metroboard at the top of this post, came over for a visit.
He moved away a while back.
And naturally I convinced him to come on a ride.
I took the Gravel Boi with twice rebuilt NewBee Drives, and he took the Roadrunner.
It was a perfect day and a really sweet ride through the nearby gravel trails.
On our way back, probably a mile or so from my house I got a flat on my rear right tire.
It was a fun puzzle figuring out how to get out of the trail with my board.
Note your leatt knee pads can work as bungee cords in a pinch.
I took the Omakase to PT today.
I love, love, love this thing every time I jump on it.
For a “short” board it has so much power.
I actually need to tone my throttle curve down…
When my therapist came out to get me, she asked if I had ridden an analog board today…
I thought that was cute…
As per usual I meandered and took the long way home.
And I hit these freshies on campus I had only experienced with tires.
And freshies on the Akashas is so glorious!!!
What a sweet ride!!!
It is basically esk8 lore that you will never have the right belts
I fully believe that.
100%
I am still surprised how often I run accross it.
Blows my mind.
It’s getting pretty tight in that trailer…
I wonder how much longer I can keep this party going.
The Gravel Flux can keep handling it.
What a tank.
It’s looking like time for me to get some more MBS 9s… I wonder if they are still 30 bucks a pop.
You need to diy a bigger trailer mate
So today I got cells to make a pack to keep the Khymera alive.
It had a 12S4P 40t,
And I am putting in a 12S5P P42A.
My goal is to not take 3 months to build this and make it snappy.
Days are getting shorter after all.
I got started on it with a little help.
So the key is to not take 3 weeks between steps.
Next up is hot glue.
It’s funny how delusional I can be… I thought I could do a 12S5P as a flat pack… And that is not going in the enclosure.
So I have to stack…
I may hold the party to get some 0.15 50mm nickel.
I have 0.2, but I would rather use the thinner stuff…
Building a trailer is probably easier than getting both these kids riding Onewheels…
I’d love to roll up there with the Onewheels in the trailer and we all ride home.
I did ponder a bigger trailer.
I love this pick up set up.
I worry I can’t make something rated for 20 miles an hour.
Yeah you wanna be confident with the precious cargo on board!
You know…
I have tipped over that dang trailer with each of the 3 kids…
I just can’t not carve duuuuuuuude…
