This evening I got to experience the true greatness of esk8.

Flying up and down megafreshies on the Omakase!!!

For me this is about as good as it gets.

I have something so special with this board.
The low low on the 76mm!
The connection to the road.
The need to find and finesse every crack and bump…

It couldn’t be more of a departure from my ride earlier on the Gravel Flux and its extra cushy 9 inch tires.

Did a little over 7 miles.
The ride felt amazing.
I did feel my neck some after, but nothing horrible.
But it Reminds me of practice riding switch some more.
I really need to throw that in the mix!!!

So yep.

It was about 8:30 In the morning and I was in the shower.
Everyone else is sleeping.

And the bell rings…

I dart out of the shower with a towel on and run to the door to catch the FedEx guy!!!

And he deposits the giant Box for the Patton on my driveway.

I used my popsicle board as a dolly to bring the box in, and called my neighbor to help me move the monster out of the box.

I can’t be trying to haul 90 lbs things out of boxes…

But once out of the box, the Patton was more manageable, and did not feel so heavy.

Mathew came over( the EUC kid that first showed how to ride)

He was on his EX30 which he just got last week!!!

I gear up and we go roll down the street.

The initial reaction was great.
It didn’t feel heavy or giant.

We rolled back to the house and put the Power Pads on, and rolled back out.

We headed down to the paved trail and rolling there felt awesome.

It had been a solid week since I rode the V11 , so I was worried about jumping on, but it was no issue.

I even got on the EX30 for a bit and rode it for the first time.

Now that thing felt big and Heavy.

It was actually the feeling I had expected to get with the Patton. But I really only felt the wheel to be giant with the EX30.

Here is the last clean photo before we headed into the trails.

I felt a way better connection to this wheel pretty much right out of the Box, more so than I ever did with the V11.

We hit the baby trails.

It pretty much went were I wanted to go!!!

I ended up doing 14 miles, and I could not be happier about having upgrades.

I used to get constant wobbles on the V11.
And hardly had any on the Patton.

Super stoked.

So yep.
Here we are.
Not sure yet where we are going…

But that is a OK.

Tuesday of this week I went and had the steroid shot on my neck.

I can’t really say yet how much good it did.

But I kind of feel like I need to step up the Physical Therapy.

I haven’t ridden any 4 wheeled boards since!!!

I looked to the mellow cushy vibes of the PXVX for my first hits of riding around.

I even jumped on the GT a little bit.

It’s still on loan with my buddy Drew, but he accidentally took out the Re-wheel custom shaping, so he swung back by to put them back.

And he rolled up with Mathew, the EUC kid with his shinny new EX30.

So I went on a miniature group ride.

The GT is such a giant.
I really wish someone local would want to buy it from me…

I would let it go to fund an XR sized Vesc Onewheel build…

It’s pretty wild how capable these Electric Unicycles are in the hands of youg people.

Mathew can pretty much go down any stairs he looks at…

It was early the next morning that my new EUC showed up, which we talked about up there…

So I am on day 5 of having the Patton.

Today I clocked over the 100 miles mark on it, and also hit a new high of 25mph.

I have gotten on it some every day…

I even had a little fall clipping the pedal on a log on a really tight trail… But I was going slowly.

This puts me at 500 miles combined on the big wheels…
But its hard to say the level of comfort that I have really gotten to.

I do feel a way better connection to the Patton than I did the V11, so it makes it way more interesting.
It’s probably the added power and torque I am noticing.

Lots of street riding and a bit of trail riding.

Lots of pictures on bridges because it’s usually a good spot to lean the EUC…
And to stretch.

My neck seems to be holding up ok.

My right knee is struggling with the EUC like it does with the Onewheels… So that is tricky.

But I even did a 16 mile ride…

Going on any surface you want is pretty sweet.
And I can go up curbs on this thing.

Last night I got the older boy out on the “Mario Cart”

It’s so cool to see!!!

We actually rolled up to the school, making it the coolest group ride ever!!!

So, relatively speaking I have been getting pretty frisky with the Patton…

I should really be taking it extra easy.
But I find myself going to the little trails and hitting trails with that bumpy ground.
And going down little stairs…

But man, the big tire and the suspension really smooths things out.

When I bomb through here on the Gravel Boi it really shakes the shit out of me!!!
When I do it on the Gravel Flux with the 9 inch tires it’s a big improvement over just the 8s…
One of the reasons I love the MBS 9s…
And on the GT it’s a slower pace, so I am finessing the bumbs more.

But with the big wheel I keep aiming for the roots…

Different!!!

So, yep.
The EUC is bringing out the stupid in me, and I kind of love that it’s pushing me to want to go ride.

I might be prudent and not ride any today… Give my body a rest.
We will see…

I tooled around in front of the house a tiny bit and was just riding slowly trying to roll switch.

First I grabbed the Omakase.

It always surprises me how hard it is…

The trucks on the Omakase are relatively tight, and that makes it trickier…
I can tic tac a tiny bit ok though.
Rolling along and carving is ok-ish…
U turns are hard.

I want to wonder about sometimes switch, but I really worry about how I would react to a sudden obstacle, or needing to stop.

I guess practice helps right.

Then I grabbed the Rayne Crush.

It’s way looser, so it was easier to do big turns.
I can do a heelside u turn on, but toeside is hard.

This is a pretty sweet set up to practice switchstance. Since it’s mellow power wise, and has no rolling resistance.

It’s interesting how I feel so much more at ease riding switch on the Onewheels…
Navigating the single pivot point is easier than dealing with the two separate trucks…

One of the things that strikes me as extra weird getting old is that I find it super hard to sleep!!!

I was such a pro when I was younger…

Anyways.
Got up at six today.(alarm set for 8…)

Went on an early stroll on the GT.

Rode 6 miles,
Did some stretching…
Caught some views…

Rode switch a whole bunch.
Really most of the time.

It’s a tough hit dude…

Yesterday was a hard day.

The street has always been a great playground…

This definitely changes things, and it’s going to be down right sketchy for a while with all the loose gravel…

The Gravel Flux navigated the gravel shit show they slathered all over the neighborhood pretty well…

If I was still young and could take couple falls I would actually probably be out there trying to drift around…
