My mission was to have something small, portable and all terrain. The perfect solution was the onewheel pint. Just my opinion in my scenario.
allright.
The Haero is rewired and feeling sensitive.
here is hoping that it holds up this time.
I still need to build a couple packs for it, but good enough for now.
I feel so fooled. Clearly you are not the one building out these magnificent beasts.
#stopesk8childlaborexploitation
yep.
he spends a lot of time on the bench putting in work.
and demands to go up there every day…
reorganized the bench and cleaned up the garage wall a bit today.
going to all magnets and no more hanging hooks.
moved the hanging hooks around a bit to make more room.
there are 12 running set ups…
should be 14 soon when I get the motor replaced on the demonseed, and get a permanent battery built for the Haero and get the Rally cat back together.
got into something today I have been meaning to do for a while.
couple upgrades for the Omakase.
going from BN 184 to super special BN 170 in the back…
the space between the motors drove me bananas…
so got rid of that.
that part went super smoothly…
totally worth the time and money to go from the wheels being 29.5 cm wide to 28 cm wide.
here it is interesting to see how much the motors were rubbing on the enclosure.
the main upgrade I am really hoping to accomplish is adding the Eboosted Tayto enclosure to replace the now broken BKB enclosure.
this is TBD…
I hope I can make it work.
it won’t be as easy as the axle swap was…
I will have to take everything off the deck to see how to make it fit and may need to add a bit more risers to the back truck.
I WAS pretty happy with 29 cm on My Deadly Sin. Damn you and your tiny trucks!
Good luck with the new enclosure, hope it clears up the motor bite. I wound up moving my rear truck back rather than deal with a whole new enclosure
all right!!!
long weekend. yey.
it rained all day yesterday so I pretty much tinkered all day…
lots of action.
but the main goal was the Omakase.
and the Omakase is back and I am super happy with it.
recap on parts.
Omakase.
10S3P 40T
Unity running 23.64.
TB 6354 190kv motors.
old style Bkb mounts.
TB 218 baseplates.
caliber hanger in the front BN 170 hanger in the back.
14/36 on 80mm Orange Kegels.
and the Glorious new enclosure.
here is
a bit of how the day went.
fist I took apart the Rayne Crush.
I am making a bunch of changes to it and I wanted to steal the baseplates for the Omakase.
the green caliber baseplates were super cool looking but they were pretty beat up.
so we go back to black.
I actually stripped the Omakase all the way down as well.
I love this enclosure from Eboosted.
it is such an incredibly nice part.
it is not meant for the Omakase… but to me it sure is close enough.
so new inserts go in…
only doing 5 bolts. I am sure it will be ok.
so the enclosure addition went well.
now I just needed to slap it all together.
flipped the battery around and tucked the Daly up front and did extensions for the battery wires and charge wires.
I have been doing this on the few recent set ups.
along with the usual foam strip on the edge of the enclosure I put a strip of butyl tape on the inner half of the foam.
it makes me feel good…
and hopefully does a bit of keeping crap out.
then it all went together beautifully
I am just so happy about how this looks.
I have not gone on a full ride. but did ride it around a bit this morning in front of the house and it is pure goodness.
there was more time to burn yesterday as the rain went on so I did some work on the Demonseed.
I was waiting on the new BN Mounts to show up to work on this board.
and they showed up in the afternoon.
well.
they dont work here.
Kevin warned me they may not work on many scenarios rear mounted…
but I am dense so…
they will not work with the adjustable base plates… unless they are at a stupid angle…
apparently I took no pictures.
so I went throw back to some idler mounts from 2019…
and I soldered mr60 connectors to the TB 6474 motors I stole from the Rayne Crush…
and to the old unity I am using…
I only got as far as getting the trucks set up… but it is all pretty close to the finish line at this point…
Alright.
The baby(almost 2) helps keep me on track…
at some point of the day or a few times a day he bangs on the kitchen door demanding to go play on the work bench…
so off we went tonight and I worked on the Demonseed.
the drive train was done and the electronics had been hooked up…
so I just needed to tape down the sensor wires and put some gasketing on the enclosure.
going a bit thicker than I usually do with 3/8 foam strip… I think I had used a 1/4 before and it wasnt great with the step in the concave there.
did the thing with the butyl tape again.
and then 12 enclosure screws later it was good to go…
the gasket looks ok…
whatever … I just need to get the dang eboosted enclosure… quit fucking around…
so the Demonseed is back.
I should be out riding it… but I am feeling lazy so doing this from the couch instead.
the 16 mile ride I did earlier on the Omakase was basically perfect anyway so I am good for today!!!
Ughh… that’s so much butyl tape. That stuff is amazing and the devil. I still haven’t taken the white protective layer off mine, because I’m afraid if i do I’ll never open the enclosure again. It’s like sealing a tomb. So I just ride with the white tape sticking out everywhere
yeah dude.
it adds a whole new dynamic when it comes to taking stuff apart…
look at this mess when I opened up the Demonseed…
here I go with the damn idlers again…
this time it is 6x19x6 bearings. so 3 ends up being plenty wide to cover the belt but still does not hit the wheel.
if I needed to move it down much further the bolt would hit the wheel.
another reason I like these is that I can crank down on the bolt to really tighten it and it still spins…
that won’t play on the regular ones…
anyways.
it is all about the little things that spark joy!!!
ok.
adventures in kicktail land, and the short lived life of the Claus…
the Claus is full on flat…
no wonder it seemed so impossible to learn to Ollie in the 80s.
so the Claus was not loved like an esk8 should be.
so I have been looking for replacements.
so first came the Claus.
then I ordered a Vision Original Deck that was supposed to be Modern Concave… but no. wrong listing. also super flat…
then I got the Vision Agressor 2 with modern concave…
the concave looked good. but the deck was smaller and the wheel base was noted incorrectly online… they said 16 inches was actually 15 inches…
so that went back.
thanks to youtube anda someone that did a little review I decided to order a Vision Ghost deck with modern concave.
And I think we have a winner!!!
it has concave.
the goal in the back of my mind was to find something similar to the ATV ditch life, which I am loving, but slightly bigger.
welp. damn!
doesn’t the Vision Old Ghost really seem to fit that bill…
I don’t have an enclosure yet…but on the Claus with 16 inch wheelbase it looked tough…
the Old Ghost is 15.5 so I am going to drill new holes…
probably just up front to move it out a tiny bit.
Yey!
today’s episode of DIY is a disease is brought to you by this little yellow cable I cut taking the packet off the Claus.
fucking fuck…
oh. and the holesholes are drilled…
this is super enerving to me.
but added 2cm. making the wheelbase 16.5 a full smidge longer than on the Claus…
Super excited to see how the Vision Old Ghost turns out
well.
it won’t be done done for a while because the enclosure has to be designed and printed and yada yada yada…
but I am hoping to go to ride it tonight with that shrink wrap ducktape vibe.
standing on the deck it really seems to be the ticket.
allright.
Got the Vision Old Ghost going.
it really looks a lot like the Ditch Life.
I think the Vision may be a tiny bit shorter and a tiny bit wider.
I think it has more concave.
the wheelbase on the vision is longer since I modified it
I just rode it around in front of the house.
but it felt good.
the concave is nice.
it is not as easy to pop up as the Ditch Life.
I think it is going to be a keeper.
looking forward to taking it out out.
