Some light tinkering.
I have been relying on other things besides tinkering to distract my busy mind.
Weaving the treenet is a good one. Takes time and effort and attention. But not any planning.
Some of the tinkering I need to do feels a little bit like a chore… so I keep putting it off.
It all went to hell when I decided to take my garage apart to organize it. It was months ago and there are boxes everywhere still…
But the day before I got on the bench for something really easy.
It is funny how my mind works and I create things to do that are unnecessary…
But I made Luca the little DKP board.
I am into the little 6 inch Hota tires and the evolve hubs I put on there.
And as little of a change as it would be. I wanted the smaller Hota tires on here instead of the Meepo tirea. Small change… but the 6 inch tires don’t fit the Meepo wheels.
So I decided I wanted a set of evolve hubs.
But I need to not buy unnecessary shit… so I talked myself out of it.
But to do something I decided to slap the MAD 101s on here.
This gave me the chance to pop open some new zealous bearings and new bearings have a strong feel good nostalgic value to me. So hooray.

But you already know how things go with DIY…
I have the reverse risers on here to lower the deck from the trucks. A whopping 10mm…
And with those it was scrape city.
Easy fix …
I took the reverse risers off… and it was enough clearance.
I went to lunch with my wife on the new wheels.
Did I mention I really love going on rides with my wife!!!
It’s amazing how much the different wheels make this board.
It’s like DKP is an entirely different beast on thane vs tires.
So much more lean with the tires!!!
But it is cool how super low it is with the MAD wheels.
And with the V1s I did not break traction even once on my ride…

That same evening we got out for another ride to go grab dinner.
We meandered through the gravel trails to get downtown.
These crab cakes are what got me out of the house!!!
Time alone. Nice weather. Good food!!!
We are happy campers!!!
Bonus on the way home my one single esk8 buddy was out riding and ran into us.
The Flux is such a great feeling board.
It was so nice to ride… I still need to change out the Z-mote in there…

One more outing before the kids return…
The next day we set out for lunch.
Again taking the long way downtown through the gravel trails.
Cool views off the bridges we cross.
I think we go over 18 different little bridges…

The choice that day was the tiniest hole in the wall restaurant we have.
It’s a lady making Ethiopian food, which is always amazing. Much of it reminds me of stuff I ate as a kid in Brazil. Definitely the greens and potatoes.

I fell today…
Pretty good fall…
I was out on the mellow cruise with Luca.
And suddenly boom.
I’m on the ground.
I was going slowly.
But as usual I went down like a sack of potatos
The 3 mm of the heat sink sticking out really got me good.
Worst part is that besides a helmet I was padless.
I have been doing that a lot lately. I was really taking it easy and going slowly.
Sucks…
It’s just minor road rash and bruising. But at 48 any kind of falling sucks so much.
And if I at least had my gloves and knee pads 3 of the 4 booboos would have been covered…

The oldest guy in our group just turned 53, you have plenty of time left for swellbow!

I’m 57 so I will let you know when I find out . My worst slams have been at slow speeds including going over the hood of a car that pulled out in front of me last spring. I feel safer moving fast . Quick healing RAF! Plenty of swelbow years ahead of you still.

It’s wild to think that I’m coming up on 10 years of esk8…
Wild.
Time is something.
I’m so stoked on it.
Looking back skateboarding had really died down in my life. And I don’t think there is any analog variation that could have brought it back into my life with such vigor.
And having been a skateboard punk all my life it is so comforting to still have that.
I ride almost every day.
Sometimes several times a day.
I ride with my kids a bunch!!!
I ride for fun but I also ride for errands…
I use aboard to take my kids to school.
My garage is completely taken over.
I have parts to shuffle boards around for another 20 years…
I keep trying not to buy more stuff but I keep buying stuff…
I am not in great shape by any means… but way way better than before esk8. And it motivates me to try and move all the time.
I am always breaking boards.
I am always building boards…
Like always…
It’s always something.
Im trying to convert to thumb remotes… I put up a good fight.
I finished a really awesome build last night.
Luca’s little longboard aka the Batmobile.
Since it’s all blacked out.
The thing is so sweet.
It’s such a good size.
And it totally turns for him.

You found the perfect little enclosure for that board . It’s got so much rocker to it . Stoked to see the finished results. He’s gonna be the coolest kid in the hood ripping around on that thing.

@SpankDog gave it to us a couple years ago down in Arkansas.
It finally got made into an esk8.
