The rain is skewing my riding plans…

We decided to go to the museum ofNative American History.

We would have all ridden if it was not raining… But my wife drove.

Luca and I rode through sprinkles.

Now it’s raining a bunch…
Hope It gets over it soon and I can get on some trails.

Arkansas was Dreamy

Let’s catch up.

The few days in Bentonville were awesome and I’m stoked to report we all made it out in one piece.

Going back to rainy Friday after the museum.
We went home and a bit after 5 when it had dried up we rode out as a family to go explore the Gardens at Crystal Bridges.

Always cool new stuff to see there.

The riding around and exploring is so cool to me, and it’s especially fun in Bentonville since they went crazy with trails for mountain bikers.

Luca was able to roll down the Masterpiece first try no problem. I had to actually walk the last little section with the board…

The little mellow side trails are really my jam.

This little paved trail being probably my favorite one to ride there!!!

Unfortunately I did have a belt snap and stupid meat didn’t have an extra one on hand…

But single Drive got us back home just fine…

Later on we went to the square to eat. Luca and I brought our Onewheels

And we rode around some before going back home.

So despite a bunch of rain early on, Friday was a rad day.

Electric Skateboards are useless without remotes

I was so bummed…
One of the 10 PEVs that I brought down to Arkansas was to IonDrive V1.

I was stoked to go ride paved trails with @SpankDog.

But it’s a no go without a remote…

On to Saturday

Shocker, but I did not get up and moving super early… But we got going eventually and packed the van to drive 3 miles over to Coler Mountain.

When I got there I realized I left the fucking remote for the mountainboard home.
So we have to drive back and drive back again…
Electric skateboards are useless without remotes

But we got back and got going.

We stood here… But we did not got down the Thunderdome. I was not warmed up.

We went down the trail called Esther’s way.
Which was fun, but also a bit on the long side…

In the afternoon we rode as a family to the Farmers market and I took the Onewheel.

On the way home we rode up to the top of the building, as one does in Bentonville…

Super cool up there.

Later in the afternoon @SpankDog rolled up to the Airbnb. With gifts in hand!!!

He gave Luca the most adorable little Rayne deck we are going to set up somehow.

It was so cool to see another Electrified Demonseed.
It did suck to see the Eboosted enclosure in person, because now I really need one…

Spankdog glided so beautifully on the smooth streets and trails!!!

It was such a fun ride down and back up the trails near Crystal Bridges.

Saturday Evening

We took the kids this really cool playground up in Rogers Arkansas.
And of course around the corner to have this pump track that’s an absolutely dream for any mountain biker…
The Rail Yard is something special…

After that the kids went home in the Van and I rode the greenway back down to Bentonville for about 8 miles.

It seemed appropriate I ended the nightlost in the Walmart campus…

I hope all these posts are still around when I become a dad so I can use them as a guide

The family rides are really fun.

But Luca is seriously getting to a point that he is a full on riding partner.

I have been thinking I need to kick myself in gear and get in better shape to keep up with him.

He already asked to go ride today…

I’m considering coming up with a cheap go-kart design that uses old busted esk8s. That way I can make a bunch of them for all my nephews/ nieces( not really my nephews/nieces; they’re my cousin’s kids but in my family my cousins are my brothers/sisters)

I think sit down toys can be way more approachable.

They all killed it on the “Mario Kart” which is what we called the cart attachment for the hoverboard.

It can be pretty sketchy at speeds and has claimed much skin…

I want to come up with something for Max to keep up with us on rides…
Like a go kart or trike or something…

It will be so cool when he can ride along faster…

Had a blast riding with you Rafael . Thanks for taking me out of my comfort zone . Its been quite awhile since I’ve gone out and rode among the Walmartians in Bentonville .

It is nice going home

I enjoyed vacation.
But being old and crotchety I also really enjoy being home…

So I played PEV Tetris one last time

The magic of the Minivan dude!!!

We got surprised by a hot air balloon that I think was actually having some troubles as it was probably only about 50 ft above our house…

And I got some shinny parts waiting for me!!!

I messed around with belts on the mountain board long enough…
It’s not the worst…
But these will be so much better!!!

Mega Freshies Extravaganza

I still have some more catching up to do and some stuff I did since I’ve been home.

But last night was so epic I need to write about it first…

My one esk8 buddy Benji had messaged me to let me know there are freshies all around downtown…

Last night I set off on the V1 to see them in person and ride with Benji.

At just about a mile away from home I ran into the first set of glorious blacktops!!!

So mega dreamy.
And the V1 with the ABec 111s is perfect for this too

I love Ping Pong!!!

I love summer night rides!!!

We chased Freshies and life was good.

They also just did All of the giant parking lots next to the stadium.
We rode around with all of the open space we had for a long time and it was so much fun.

This parking lot had a slight grafe so I would just ride to the top, and then coast down, which feels amazing on the V1.

We ended up stopping for a drink and then riding more.

Most epic evening.
The magic of esk8 was at its peak!!!

Come on baby! We can 3 Link

Before vacation I decided to try the 3 links on the Demonseed.

And it seemed pretty promising.

So promising in fact, that I decided to commit to doing the back trucks.
Keep in mind this is an entire day of work…

But on we go.

I really like both the Meepo wheels and the MBS wheels.

It’s interesting to think about how much I do this in my life.
This very move here of torching pulleys…

Celebrate every successful pulley extraction!!!

Next up I needed to cut the back of the deck.

Sanding is hard to do evenly with the gap…
It’s not perfect.
But good enough.

Next up starts the daunting task of decomposing the 3 links.

If I counted it right I’m going to have to undo14 connection points just to get to the point where I start putting them back together.

I always get a good workout on the vice.

But hey. Here we are. Flipped, and mount free.
Took some sweat, and anger…

Next up I had to get the new mounts on there.
The new mounts are nice they make me happy.

As opposed to these …

Next up I get to enjoy the joy of DIY and putting things together that don’t go together…

So we cut and grind and sand…

Poor Demonseed.

I got this composite one as a B grade from Rayne directly for a pretty good price.

I don’t think they have this anymore so I’m a little bummed I am butchering it.

But I’m committed and we charge forward.

It’s going to work.

I lined up the motor mounts.

I had a bent flange on my pulley so I decided to knock the flanges off.

Unbelievably enough I did not have the right size belts for this I need a 385 I only had 390.

Without the flange the 390 just rolled right off of there it was kind of funny…

I really wanted to ride this damn thing, so I decided I would have put some 18 tooth pulleys on there.
And in the process I fucked out the pulley extraction…
Here I was pulling pulleys again…

I got the 18 on there and everything was looking good

I go outside and shit is fucked up…
DIY is a disease

But before going home pissed off I realized that I could move the rods on the 3 links and maybe fix my issues…

So onto undo and redo another 10 - 15 connections…

I had to go to the longer rod.

I have a smidge more deck clearance…

And we were done again!!!

I really fucking hate working on these trucks…
But I really think they look cool.
Something punk rock about it all!!

I really enjoy the look of the setup with the light wood and the silver trucks and the brass wheels…

It works now!!!

And it turns better.

It’s really low and easy to throw around.

The turning radius is lacking… But good enough for now.

I rolled over to the school with the kids and had a great time riding around the playground.

Definitely a fun move compared to the TKP.

Ultra Demonseed

So stoked.
I just realized it’s an Ultra board too now!!!

I’ve already slung this content all over this forum several times, so I apologize if you have already seen this…

The sit down board was the easiest point of entry for my kiddos. We called it the e-luge. They started riding when they were 8 years old. It was pretty easy to make. Just took a plastic lawn chair, cut the legs off and bolted it to the deck. There was just a few critical design elements to get the board to ride without speed wobbles:

  • Front wheel drive
  • Split angle trucks with an extremely low rear angle
  • Near perfect weight distribution (between the front and rear truck), if possible try to make the weight more biased towards the front truck

Here are some videos from when my son first started riding which shows how stable this thing was at +25mph:

When my son got taller, we had to make some PVC foot mounts to keep the weight distribution dialed in. The foot mounts allowed us to shift the weight of legs forward, to be in front of the front truck.

It’s so much fun riding with your kids!

I really like how your Demonseed Mods turned-out. How does it ride?

It’s really good!!!

It’s quite low.
Axle is pretty close to the Standing platform.

Meepo tires feel really good on the MBS wheels.

The gearing is ok, even if I’m not where in plan on being.

I have ridden it around the neighborhood a bunch, and took it out last night on the freshies after having some troubles with the V1…

The low ride and the 3 links make it really easy to throw around.

And I feel like I can’t mess it up…
Sometimes other trucks can get squirrely if you are doing hard turns and such, and the feel solid.

Since I am insane though, I do have some beef with it, and may very well change it soon…

I am pretty hung up on it not having a great turn radius.

I’m also pretty hung up at it not having a ton of lean or dive when doing slow turns…

When you are moving it’s great…

I just want a similar feeling to what I get with the Flux and Dualitys, or the Almost a Flux with Singularitys…

Which is a high bar.

So I ordered Evolve Supercarve 2 DKP trucks to try on here to get back on some DKP Vibes.

I expect I will try them on here, but it will be relatively easy to go back and forth on trucks now that the 3 links are set.

I ride DKP’s on my Demonseed and I’ve been really happy with that set-up. I have the same Demonseed Deck that you do. The factory blems for $99 were too hard to ignore and I don’t regret that purchase one bit.

I tried the red Meepo wheels on the Demonseed and DKP’s and I didn’t like the Meepo wheels on that board as much as I like the TB 110’s or Hoyt 111’s.

I mean, the Demonseed rides so low to the ground in the first place, and when you add Urathane wheels you can really become part of the road. Plus, I use it as an old school cruising board (not meant for super high speeds) and I’m fine with just some sloooowww carving rides.

The fun of this sport/hobby is that the wheel, truck, board, battery, etc combinations are infinite. The set-ups I love today, I might think totally different about in 6 months - and I love that.
