The Saga went on with the Llama, and this part doesn’t so much have to do with the trucks…
The belts had to go.
It must in part have something to do with the motors facing forward…
Maybe the large 20mm pulleys.
Or maybe it’s just that Chip n Seal sucks…
But I was not going to be able to keep belts on here
I had so many problems in such a short time.
I bet the set up Alex has with the NewBee drives is super sweet.
But that would be expensive…
I actually hit up Facko and was leaning towards putting chains on here.
They have been really solid on the Gravel Boi.
But that would around 170 bucks, and I was having a hard time nailing down the ideal pulleys combo.
So I thought I would give the open gears a try
I am not opposed to the concept of open gears, but it always seemed like the SRB ones are really loud from videos.
I already think the chains are loud…
The belt drive with the SKP motors sounded so good…
But @fessyfoo had some SRB gears for sale, so I could try them for under 100 bucks.
So here they are.
The stickers were a nice touch Fess
It makes me happy that these use a bearing.
3D printed spacer worked out nicely.
While I was there, I changed the Evolve 7 inch tires, which I really like, but wear fast.
I am trying these CST 190x50
They are just barely bigger than the evolves, but definitely look more rounded.
I actually like the look of the board with the Evolve tires better.
But I want to see how the CST feel.
I really, really, really like the CST 200x50 I have on the Flux.
On an unprecedented note of stupidity I somehow chewed through the thread of the front axle.
I was really bummed thinking I may have ruined my shinny new trucks.
But I ran down to ace and got the little thread chaser tool and managed to get it sorted out.
Anyways.
I had nee tires, and new straight cut open steel gears.
Which are a really neat, elegant simple approach, it seems like.
