Mountain board motors

I’ve tried searching but have had no luck I’m looking for motors for my mountain board build (off-road only) I’m looking for sealed motors but can only find Maytech and hear they have over heating issues. I’m trying to avoid dirt and crap from entering the motors. If I can’t get anything else but Maytech what other options do you recommend and not Flipsky

Why not flipsky? I’ve run their BH ones for thousands of miles and still not even had a failed hall sensor

Ive had 6 flipsky 6374 and only 1 has a broken sensor after 3 years.

Flipsky makes a lot of shitty products but motors aren’t really one of them, what makes you want to avoid them?

I hate this term.

No outrunner motor is sealed. Its a marketing gimmick.

Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 (sensorless I think), Alien Power Systems, Turnigy SK8 sensored, Ant Innovation (might be the same as Flipsky), Trampa

I think I’d go with Trampa if money wasn’t a concern, but I really like Flipsky motors, too. They’ve been good to me.

Never used them myself but i’ve not heard great things about trampa motors.

Sk3s are great in my experience, and APS are just branded Saite motors, which are also great in terms of bang for buck.

I’ve had issues with flipsky products may not be motors but once I have issues with a company I move on to the next if there are other options that’s all

I wonder if Hoyt St ever plans on releasing a 6374 from their manufacturer.

Dude those UAV motors are magic and I want an audio recording of @jack.luis describing how they work to fall asleep to

Our manufacturer doesn’t want to make anything larger unfortunately. They are designed to take advantage of the new MTPA algorithm in vesc tool, but it’s risky due to how new it is.

This is why we switched to 6384’s from Flipsky while we change manufacturers to one who is willing to make a larger motor.

wait really!! mine dropped magnets last week and the sensors clapped out on monday. the battle hardening also came off the rotor and ripped up some of the windings a couple months back

Yeah well you’ve also broken like every component on your mtb, more than once, so I’m not sure how well you relate to the average user lmao

My street board FS6374 have 1500 miles on them, and my MTB 6384 have 920 miles on em

thinking of these Turnigy SK8 6374-149KV Sensored Brushless Motor (14P) im used to the 190kv on my reachers but thats a street board. the 149kv should give me more torque and less speed how would something like this go with 8" tyres? looking at this as they look like less crap will get in them instead of the SK3

give meeee, 3-4 weeks

i’m nust waiting on my escs to return from repairs

You’re better off with 190kv and then gearing to achieve the torque you want IMO

Thanks for that, do you know when fullsend are getting more Reachers

That’s a really good question and one best posed to Vince

Iam ride on my Mountainboard with flipsky 140kV . Till now I have around 500km with chains . Ride in rain (it was not a target) and all works well

I have those ones in 130kv and the torque is nice, but construction quality is pretty shitty. Every single screw on them is made of cheese, the bearings went kaputt in a matter of weeks and I had to replace the sensor cables in one of them (they broke a few mm off the epoxied PCB) which sucked big time.

In particular I have sheared off all the M3 screws that fix the stator to the support structure that goes against the motor mounts and had to drill and tap those from M3 to M4…

IMO you’ll be much happpier with any of the Flipskys (that I have used for most of the other boards I’ve built)
