What other boards have you tried?
what do you mean? Iāve built 4.5 DIY setups, started on an evolve GTR, rode some other peopleās DIY boards, a Verreal RS, some onsra (idk which one, the short one) and a few other boards that I donāt remember or didnāt ask the brand of.
Iām talking about a specific gear drive on a specific board, and 2.78 gives a nice balance of top speed and torque. I use kegel because then I have the widest wheel selection without changing the drivetrain.
Perfect! How do I pay for the pulleys though?
BTW, that link doesnāt work for me. Nevertheless, I found the item and the options are:
- 60T x 18mm
- 42T x 18mm
- 60T x 7mm
- 42T x 7mm
in case somebody else wondered.
any chance these would work on matrix II
or with 3ds gear drives and trucks?
thanks
Nope, these follow zero esk8 standards
The Versa pulleys will need purchased from Vex Robotics.
@Halbj613 havenāt a clue about the Matrix II.
As for the 3ds drive I suspect an adapter or modifying the hub could be possible.
These wheels are positive offset. Meaning the load center of the wheel rests within the outside third. For this reason it requires more spindle area to accommodate the drive.
Here are the dimensions for the drive and front hubs.
metric
Iām getting a bit lost in your wheels stock. Is there a difference between the wheels offered in the e-shop and the ārace wheelsā as shown on the Rolling Chassis pic?
Also, it looks like I lingered too long and the wheels are already sold out. Do you have an ETA for re-stocking?
Ugh this is terrible. The last thing esk8 needs is a new competing standard
Pretty sure the other standards would disintegrate under what Stooge does to them
Wheels are made and in transit. Should be in stock Monday or Tuesday. The Aluminum center is mostly cosmetic but replaces the steel washers between the nut and wheel. Will have Al wheel centers available on the Web-store in the near future.
We have zero evidence of that. Existing standards have held up to the abuse of the industry so far.
Iād actually be interested to see what it takes for a well made Kegel or 5-star mount to fail.
I doubt that with well-made parts the standard would fail on grounds of purely design and not material choice.
??? The two are intimately linked. Material choice is one of the first steps of the design process.
If you tried to put 45 duro rubber on a kegel core Iād imagine it would shred instantly under 12kW of power. Kegel was designed for a world of ~80A thane and weāve seen plenty of cases where ~70A big wheels start to push its limits. SRB is designed for different materials.
SRB doesnāt compete with these other standards anyway, it demolishes them
The Kegel hole pattern has nothing to do with the material surrounding it. You can build virtually any hub around the mounting pattern as demonstrated by @surfnacho and janeux with the InfinityHubs and Quattro hubs respectively.
these are racing wheels guys, it should be expected they dont work with stuff out of the box.
I wouldnt expect my ebay motors brake calipers to fit on a Formula 1 brake rotor.
If you cant afford to purchase a new drivetrain but are willing to spend $120 per wheel then maybe something is off
I just wanna put these on my revel kit, man
Yeah, that certainly is workable. Is such a hub the best way to attach the desired tire materials? Is it the lightest or the most robust? How large can you scale it before some other system becomes stiffer? IDK.
This is a race machine and itās ok that they prioritize things other than compatibility.
Itās not about being able to afford it, people who are heavily invested into certain standards will actively avoid this because of a large scale incompatibility with anything else.
So let them go choose another esk8 racing specific wheel lol
If you want track performance, go get yourself the infinity hubs and throw some metro 155ās on it , loosen your trucks, build a track, and practice.
who knows, someone in this thread may already have an idea for a cheap part that can adapt these wheels to MBS pattern.
This is exactly what Iām hoping for, as Iāve seen happen a few times before. Eventually someone will want to run these on DD or something and the can will be blown wide open.
