Metr Pro Updates

Fw 0.27.
It is strange. When I turn the screen off on the discharge screen then it stops discharging. If I first go to home and then turn the screen off it stays on with discharging.

It also stops with discharging if I move to real-time view.

Further checking this it seems to be slightly random. Sometimes it keeps discharging when switching app and sometimes it doesn’t. Perhaps an apple background app status issue.

The new ACK control modes work perfect now, thank you! …minus one more minor glitch…

I can make and apply custom modes, once though, until I close the metr app and reopen it. If the app stays connected to the module, I can only apply any mode once, any attempts at applying a different mode end up in app configuration time out until I disconnect the module and reconnect by closing and opening the app- then I can change to a different mode without timeout, for one mode apply. It’s useable now, just not ideal :upside_down_face::slightly_smiling_face:

I also tried the discharge, do I need to change the FOC openloop and FOC hysteresis values from 0.1 or something else? motor and battery current stay 0. This is what I see when I activate discharge:

Great, you found a bug! And I just fixed it, new update is coming out soon
For discharge you have to switch to FOC, yes. Do you have working FOC setup?

Sweet thanks!

yep, I have both FOC and BLDC setup. Trying to run discharge when FOC is applied. I reran FOC motor and FOC sensor detection, applied, tried again and still no discharge activity. Tried changing FOC sensor modes (hybrid, sensored, sensorless) and no difference. I tried changing openloop ERPM (100, 400, 800, no difference) and FOC openloop time (0, 0.1, 1, 10, no difference). It does seem to make a really soft clunk/click sound sometimes right when I hit start discharge. I think once I saw the very beginning of that animation, like one little spark on the discharge screen that immediately disappeared. I wonder if the openloop command is different on Ackmaniac…

What i would love to see is the app not jumping to the Realtime data screen everytime i exit the app/switch to another app. Sometimes i’m looking something up while doing something on the metr app and it reverts it everytime i switch.

A toggle or something.

Yes I just installed Ackmaniacs 3.103 on my board and did FOC setup, and discharger not working. Timeout hits too soon (and that’s why that click sound). Investigating…

So it’s a bit weird with Ackmaniacs 3.103 and foc_openloop command. I think because of the changes in timeout.c (firmware code) In official firmware there is no logic analysing RPM, in Ackmaniacs timeout hits when RPM is low.

At the same time it kinda works for me, but only 10 seconds or so. Then (scary part) motor spins fast for about couple of seconds and UART dies. After I restart VESC, it’s all good again. But probably discharger functionality should be turned off for 3.100+ :see_no_evil:

Eeek K :grimacing::blush:

Yeah I can’t keep it discharging somehow. It always switches off after a little while.

Diebiems fw 0.27 VESC firmware 3.38.

After a while is when? Seconds? Minutes?

Within 5 minutes.

what does the small external antenna look like?

small external antenna on the left, large on the right

Try to increase timeout value from 1000 to 2000

If it doesn’t help, please send logs (Settings -> Show Logs) to support@metr.at

One more thing I discovered today with Discharger:

If your PPM remote is ON, Discharger will not work. Turn off your remote. I will add this check later, because Metr Pro is already sending back PPM values, it should be possible to detect when remote is ON.

Yes this works.

I can now close open anything and it keeps discharging. I did have to change the value separately for VESC 2.

Nope I spoke too soon. It just automatically switched off.

There was a problem with recent iOS version 13.2 killing apps in the background. Are you running latest iOS? 13.2.3

Yes latest version running 13.2.3.

So I took iPhone 7 with iOS 13.2.3 and noticed a bit weird behaviour. Sometimes it would freeze app for 4 seconds when screen locked / background. Can you try increase timeout to 5000 from 2000 (both VESCs) and try again?

Tried it and the result was better. I have sent you a new log file.

This time I’d say it worked for 20min maybe. It does however switch off when I do a few app switches.

@Andy87 (+ @rpasichnyk) , what solved the issue for you? I’m getting the same grief (on Android). I’ve checked and reset the Location permissions. I’m getting the Location indicator in the system bar when the app is active, but it’s not working. Auto-record never starts and if I start it manually, it switches itself off cos it thinks its stationary. I’m running v4.1.3.
