Meepo & Newbee cloning SRB trucks. Same company? (update: answer is no)

DKP height oof that’s going to be tall. Is there the possibility of mounting it drop through at least?

Want want want. Any estimate on a release date or price point?

From the axle center to the top of baseplate is 56mm, isn’t that bad.

so maybe change the title?

Its misleading - it was never cloning. and I don’t know why people think he’s meepo, he’s always been separate

Very cool! It is a little tall - does the height change much with angle adjustment? It seems like it would stay fairly consistent. Also, are the links the only thing restricting movement about the axle? Rotational torque, I mean.

do people think he’s meepo?

i thought maybe he was meepo because the hangar. in the original instagram teaser looked just like the design in the patent from meepo.

so I asked.

height doesn’t change when in different angles. Based on my understanding, rods only provide the limit and give a direction of the lean of the main axle. Bushings is one to restrict the movement. Also this truck could adjust the leans by tight the grub screw.

Yeah…A lot of people thinking I’m meepo…
The reason i covered the angle bracket, cause i want to keep it in secret, lol…

Was thinking, Let’s say one is to install them to MTB type deck (bro, Flux etc.)
Could it be possible to have adjustment on the other direction too to counteract the deck wedge?

Just a brain fart lol

BECAUSE WE WOULD NOT SUPPORT THAT

Why? Because of the work and cost of making a new mold? The bushings in the Cad design posted look like barles almost so maybe wouldn’t even need a mold

Probably conflict of interest w/MoeStooge/OG 3 links.

This would be super interesting actually. If you could use barrels in a 3-link style truck, you would have a high rebound precision truck.

Part of the reason folks prefer 3-links for racing is because of the low rebound bushing, that allows you to lean a lot. If you had normal barrels on a 3-link, I assume you would lose that characteristic feeling.

Why though?

Newbee’s 3 link looks significantly different in function from SRB 3-links, so I don’t really see what the issue is. Certainly more creative design choices have been made in developing the newbee 3-link, when compared to something like the lacroix hypertrucks, which are basically a copy of MBS matrix ii, but made much more robustly.

I don’t really see this as any different from buying hypertruck bushings to use on matrix ii trucks, which generally seems not frowned on by anyone.

Here are my thoughts about the 3-Link design spectrum and all it iterations. All variations owe their inspiration to @MoeStooge and my moral compass says if you want a special iteration of the concept, you should approach SRB and collaborate. If he says no, invent something new, end of story.

In my decades of skateboard related development, I have never met a more dedicated, innovative and inspired designer than Brandon Biggs. He is never satisfied and will not stop pushing the envelope of what can be done in this space we call DIY ESK8. We should all embrace and do everything we can to support such innovators, not copy and seek financial gain on the backs of those who lead the way. I am sick of what people think is OK to do in the name of business.

Yeah, even if Stooge had a patent on the 3 link design, the patent office would (9 times out of 10) grant Newbee a patent for their new design in a hypothetical scenario because improving upon a design, as Newbee clearly did, is essential for moving forwards.

This is a bit over the top IMO, Randal invented RKPs in the 70s, does this mean that no one besides Randal should be able to make RKPs? They are still making the same cast stuff they made back then with minimal improvements. The advancements that Ronin, Valkarie, Bear and hundreds of other brands have been incredible for the entire community and pushed the sport forwards. Randal had every opportunity to make them themselves but they didn’t so someone else came in, used their own money to conduct R&D and made something better that pushed the sport forwards. If this was how the world worked and no one could improve upon the work of others we would still be in the Stone Age.
