Meepo Hurricane Discussion

Watered down is the Zeus if you get it

That board is not watered down lmao itā€™s still better than at least 50% of the other prebuilts (spitballing here)

They are different options, both excellent. However, if you want to upgrade to Vesc, the Hurricane is the better option

Yes the Molicels have great performance. Thereā€™s no argument on that for sure. Zeus is a great all around board I think for most? Hurricane has a better upside and can tinker with lots of DIY parts.

I think the main selling points of the Zeus are the higher speed and the TKP trucks

Looks are subjective but I think the Zeus looks better too

Hard to argue with the hurricane price though

It has to give up some performance for more range I guess. You canā€™t have both. Look at the Hurricane can barely get 18 miles of range on AT!

You canā€™t have both until you get into much higher P groups than these production boards haha

18 miles on AT still isnā€™t bad for a $1200 board

I must agree the ZEUS looks much better and portable than the Hurricane. I really hope they have some sort of sale vs the crazy price drop of the Meepo which is VERY intriguing.

Same, I want one but I have no money to purchase either, and no good reason

The zeus just looks really cool and Iā€™ve never ridden TKP

most people donā€™t want to buy an overweight board that weighs 50-60lbs. They still want to be a decent looking LONGBOARD still and not a goofy overpowered device. I have my Nissan Leaf that cost less than those boards and have AC and super comfy!

18 miles on a 12s4p p42a on AT is normal lol

this was me trying to get as much range as possible in DC very little hills, same battery config as the meepo. But with gear drives, which are more efficient than belts

Good job there! I donā€™t ride AT as we only like to do street or Cloudwheels from where Iā€™m at (SOCAL). So what do you get on other wheels if you get 18miles on AT Gear Drive? Never rode one of those.

I think people underestimate how much AT sucks up

Versus urethane, in my testing, 6 inch pneumatic uses 40%+ more battery.

I also find it kind strange that Meepo advertises the Hurricane getting 30+ miles on AT since 44 miles on 90mm. And we are talking about real world range.

once i get my board, i can throw on some 105d and do a range test :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, those range estimates are complete bullshit lmao

the market has created a lying competition

I find the deal really really good and would have no problem waiting, as it will soon be winter anyway.

My previous board had: TBDD with 97mm wheels, 12S4P with UNITY and a EVO Deck.

I would like to put TBDD on it again, since ESK8 is not allowed in Germany and DD are not so noticeable.

Would this work?

u also need to swap out the esc, then it will work no problem

Pretty sure they are Panasonic /Tesla cells not Samsung

Zeus is super portable in my opinion. Easily fit in my accord coupe trunk with room to spare. I carry it with one hand short distances no problem, But IMO weight isnā€™t as relevant. For example if I ride it to the store, even if it were light weight I still have a full face helmet, gloves, remote, jacket to carry anyway so Iā€™m not carrying a board regardless. (Side note idk why I never thought of just putting it in the shopping cart with me instead of scoping out hiding places outside the store until my wife brought it up lol).

So many people here are deciding or comparing the Zeus vs Hurricane. I have a Zeus in Orange County, CA. Anyone with a hurricane nearby wanna meet up and do a comparison? For science?
