Meepo Hurricane Discussion

19.2Ah pack divided by the 4p groups indicates they’re using a cell with 4.8Ah or 4800 mAh and someone said Panasonic once so sounds about right.

Wow which part of OC!? I don’t have a Hurricane or a Zeus but do have a Mini LOL!

This post on Reddit was pretty interesting

Basically Meepo’s sending out new baseplates, ESC, and remotes to people who bought the Hurricane. Doesn’t say why, but generally I don’t think companies would send free ESCs to everyone out of goodwill.

Anaheim :slight_smile: I’m new to the scene. I know LAESK8 is pretty active but I was surprised not to find any OC version (maybe I missed it). You know any good places to ride in the area or any active OC groups? Around my house is super flat and a lot of cars unfortunately.

Nice! I don’t skate with them since too many cause way too much attention and some of those riders are out of control and accidents are bound to happen. I’d rather ride safe and calm cruise around different areas. I ride around Pasadena, San Clemente, Dana Point, etc. Much less people (nicer too!) and cars! OK since you’re an OWNER of the ZEUS, can you PLEASE use a tape measure and tell me the length of that beast. A picture would be great!

41.75” tried my best with the pics but since the wheels stick out past the nose of the deck there wasn’t a great place to measure. It’s accurate though.

Thanks AGAIN! Yeah I didn’t pay attention to the forum topic titles and I thought I was in the ZEUS topic all this time!

The Hurricane crushed it again.

@Chricious thanks for posting.

The deck seems to have a heap of concave at the 1m58s mark, or maybe it was the angle of the camera?

One thing annoys me about this video. If the board blew away the rest of the pack, why didn’t he try to identify why it performed so much better? Seems odd to me, or maybe he wasn’t allowed to do this with the demo board. He probably doesn’t care much about the technical side of things but it might be helpful looking at the deck’s internal components and doing some research. I don’t know, viewers might find that stuff kind of helpful.

It has the most powerful battery of all that boards, large motors and a 70A FOC ESC. One could expect that it’s faster than the others.

@Chricious

Yes, you and I know this, but the average youtube viewer doesn’t know that - that’s my point.

Got ya.

The motors are not the weakest link here. The BMS on the battery is only rated for 100A continuous discharge. You’d have to also bypass the BMS for discharging.

What we demand from our boards far exceeds what the cell manufacturer intends.

The molicel is being driven far under what it’s rated for. It’s rated for 45A continuous and the ESC is 70A that’s only 17.5A / cell. It’s never a good idea to push a cell far past what the manufacturer intends.
Futhermore that’s assuming max power. If you’re only going 80% that’s only 14A a cell.

70A on website and 80A according to meepo

Molicel gives the P42A a “Maximum discharging current” rating of 45A but that is not a continuous current rating. It would bring the cell up to near 100°C if discharged that hard continuously.

It is a “temperature limited” rating. You can discharge at up to 45A but you must stop before the cell reaches 75°C (easy to do that…damn hot) and the datasheet mentions discharging this hard will shorten cell life.

IMO it has about a 30A true continuous current rating, a rating that can be used to directly compare this cell to others.

I agree though that at 17.5A/cell the P42A is being used at far below its rating. The voltage sag doesn’t start getting bad until above about 25A or so (continuous or pulsed).

What datasheet are you looking at? https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0697/3395/files/INR21700P42A-V3-80092.pdf?2425 says 45A continuous (or are you saying before it hits 75C). Also doesn’t seem like cycle count goes down significantly compared to current draw.

Can’t wait for the p42b to come out, it should be released q1 or 2 of 2022 and it has a much better thermal rating.

Just found this site and it says something similar to what you’re saying.
