Madness - 4wd Monster Build

Its too big

I’m gonna change it up. Original plan was to have everything in the center but its just not gonna work without hitting my legs.

The center box will get cut down to only house the battery and I will make seperate boxes for a unity at each end.

BMS is going to be external and charge only. I should have just bought a balance charger :man_facepalming:

Been hard to find any time to work on this build, hopefully over the christmas break I can smash it out.

Same plan for my esc (just don’t know what ones yet)

I’ll probably balance via the charger… but that makes it harder to carry a charger. Idk yey.
I’ve gotta figurer out battery stuff still.

Its also going to make it easier to swap out the battery for a smaller one for short and technical rides

Ahh the plan for this board is forever changing

I’m going back to the ā€˜everything in the center’ idea, and just gonna hope it works!

Finally got some time to work on it the last couple of days. Finalised the shape by rounding a few of the corners. When I started this build, I had never ridden a Kaly 2.0… since then I have done quite a few rides on the Kaly and learned that I’m not a huge fan of the sharp angle of the wings so I flattened them out a bit too.

Routed channels for cabling. The channels’s aren’t full depth, I’m gonna build up on top of the wires with resin and then shape it to a nice W concave it the standing areas. The wires aren’t embedded at all in the transition to the tip, I am hoping this works as a bit of a radial drop… we’ll see how good my sculpting skills are.

Everything is ready to start playing with some resin and fibreglass now :ok_hand:

That thing is mental. Dylan Warren himself wouldn’t recognize it!

What connectors are you using on the sensor cables there?

I love this build. This takes integrated to the next level. Will make for a really clean looking MTB

Just some cheap 6 pin aviation plugs I found on Aliexpress :call_me_hand:

Not really  the effort is kinda moot as the centre enclosure is just a fat ass box :joy:

Got the bottom of the deck glassed with 200gsm cloth, 600gsm woven roving, 200gsm cloth

Filled up the top channels with resin today, but now I’m gonna need to build up the areas where the wires aren’t recessed to create some w concave and a bit of a radial lump at the transition.

There’s gonna be some sculpting and a shitload of sanding :joy: hopefully I can get the top ready for glass tomorrow.

This is gonna be insane!

Are you going to try to glass around the wire connectors? Or not going to worry about it?

You’re gonna have the wings and wires visible!? :face_vomiting:

Absolutely not. The deck will be getting sprayed jet black.

Yep, i’ll glass around the connectors and as tight as I can to where the wires exit in the middle. It’s gonna be a bit of a ball ache, but will see how it goes.

I kinda like it :man_shrugging:

Looks like both the yellow and blue got it

Blue got touched, yellow went all the way through :man_facepalming: gonna try lay a solder bridge or something… FML…

Open to suggestions on the best way to fix this  im thinking of a bare wire, soldered at each end of the break and sculpt epoxy over it.
