Liquidskateboards - a remoteless esk8?!?

Hey kids.

I just saw an add for this on Instagram.

And it’s different.

So I think it’s cool.

Have you all seen it?

It’s just a Kickstarter now

It uses a sensor on the tail to maintain your speed…

I wonder if I could try this with Vesc and a one wheel sensor pad.

But probably ain’t no breaks…

I really like having breaks…

Stay as far away as you possibly can.

But I really want to give money I don’t have to a product that doesn’t exist.

And I don’t have a single hub board in the arsenal…

IMHO, once you see “kickstarter” or “crowdfund” or “gofundme” or “indiegogo” none of the other words matter. It’s a no.

Yeah yeah…

Forget the Kickstarter thing for a second.

What do you think of the concept of pushing the board and it keeps you rolling?

What do you think of the sensor idea?

That is what I wanna know.

Been wanting it for years and keep thinking about, but there always seems to be a technical challenge to making it really good. I can think of several ways to make a lame or shitty version, but not a really good one.

That idea itself is fantastic and very desireable, if executed very well.

Those are my thoughts.

something like different footpad zones you activate using your back foot to go between keeping speed and getting brakes. Obv no rear foot = push up to speed.

2 or so of these I think

oh I see you are 3 steps or pushes ahead lmao.

There have been a BUNCH of attempts at this. All were garbage.

This reminded me of the SPECTRA board from the early days. There actually is one for sale in my local craigslist that i might wanna buy just to use the deck only because it’s unique for a full carbon deck

Wait a sec they look like the same HUBS!

Loaded did this with its “Unlimited Mode” at one point.

Goodbye other collarbone.

Crowdfunding isn’t inherently bad. Crowdfunding in esk8 is. Plenty of legitimate companies crowdfund products so they can properly gauge interest and ofc fundraise.

I thought Mellow boards made a decent “pushable” eskate

I tried to start 3d printing 12 years ago with the peachyprinter:

Then I bought a portable Android based PC that actually was pretty decent for a few years. Still toss it in a bag for long trips. I call this one a success (personally, they failed as a company it seems)

Then I backed the Creality CR-6 as I was in the market for a more advanced printer than my ender 3s.

It’s my least favorite printer.

I’ve been quite burnt on kickstarter over the years… Kodama 3d printers anyone? Or COR pump?,… everything now is tainted with a high level of suspicion. Crowdfunding as a concept is great, but it tends to be used by subpar entities.

Anyway, not sure they’ve solved the issues of their predecessors, going down a curb, hitting pebbles and stuff like that…
Ideal remoteless solution would involve a Neuralink - VESC plugin, but Elon’s not there yet. Too busy developing mundane stuff.

I got rid of mine for 70 bucks. piece of shit

No remote needed on this one, you step on pads to go and stop. It has headlight, taillight, brake lights and turn signals

Turn signals sound wholly useless — but the rest sounds like a decent attempt, though from what I hear, people didn’t like that sort of control.

I agree on the turn signals, if that sensor would be used to control individual wheel speed while turning like the Radium Mach One, that would be cool.
The controls method is kinda sketchy, you step on the front pad to accelerate but because you get pulled back you release and same thing for braking, you step on the rear pad and you get pulled forward lol.
Definitely takes practice.
And it has mode 2 which is faster with more torque. Even more sketchy
