lemme see them drag race!

This thread has me thinking…how about an esk8 Drag racing event?

Ty bb :kissing_heart:

i think it ccan def be done at I2S and simialr events! it should be super quick n easy to run a bracket

What’s the accuracy and refresh rate on metr modules? Is it good enough to participate?

My lacroix (5.5, 18s,151kv) was 1.95s 0-20. Probably good to make a distinction between the board owner and the racer who set the time.

There is no getting around F = MA , perhaps rider weight would be a useful data point here. If @zero_ads sets a 2s 0-20, it’s more impressive than a @poastoast 2s.

I doubt physics would allow my board to set a sub 2s 0-20 with my comparatively extra mass even if I had the guts to full throttle it that hard.

we don’t have enough extra collar bones in stock to sponsor this event

According to the laws of physics you can’t possibly get anything less than sub 1.0s for 0-20 because the coefficient of friction of your tires is only so high…but as long as you have the power your mass doesn’t affect the minimum time

However you kinda have to have 4WD unless you are about to pop a wheelie to approach theoretical limits

The importance of friction in the 0-20 test cannot be understated - but 4WD in practice doesn’t give you as much as you would expect because the front tires have very little grip compared to the back tires.

@poastoast was skidding out the front tires on the 4wd @Skyart magnetic, and all of the current leaders are high power 2wd boards.

it was? i swear it was faster than mine

Maybe it was 1.90 but I know it wasn’t faster than that

yaaaaa, all the times i got that were faster were 2wd soooo take that as you will

hmm
i do have another 1.95, so i’ll give it to you

although, cars don’t really care bout who’s is heaviers than who’s when they compare times, tho it can be taken into account to be like “this did great given the circumstances tho!” kinda thing
and or sets the expectations,

if that makes sense?

So what you’re saying is all the top speeds are about to pop wheelies right?

Fun fact: excluding resistance and friction loss, all you need is 3584 W per 100lbs of rider + board + gear, anything beyond that doesn’t help

Aww looks like I had 1 foot rollout on

none have popped wheelies yet

Yeah I’ve always spun the wheels wayy before it felt like the front wanted to come up. Need to get some gokart tires or som

It doesn’t affect the minimum possible time, for a hypothetical board that can max out its available grip. But a board that produces 500N will be maxed out with a ~50kg rider (depending on grip coefficient), and it will be operating below max grip for anyone heavier.
