SK3’s have been fiiiiine.

Dunno, I’m only at 18S.

/edit I know I just willingly contradicted myself.

What has been happening to the motors in your opinion?

Just out of interest, what exactly failed with these motors? Was it killing bearings or causing shorts or just overheating?

Did these failures happen during riding? Was it under high speed or high load scenarios? Or was it just whilst running unloaded at crazy rpm on the bench?

Any examples of motors that you would recommend to use at these voltages?

My 6374 192kV SK3’s have been fine, but they have bearings on both ends, good ventilation and a built in fan. Combined I’ve been pushing up to 10.5kW through two of them. I can feel @Dareno smiling already.

You got any logs for this?

There’s always someone who wants proof.

100D, 100S. The 60D and 60S weren’t meant for 20S and we didn’t test them at 20S. We’ve only been testing the 100 volt variants

We bench tested both the 100D and 100S fine unloaded on both the 6374s and the 8085s.

Once we got on the board with the 8085s though, The 100D lost one side so we sent it back, but 100S still ran detection on both motors just fine. So we ran two 100Ss and then after about 10 minutes of riding we lost the 100S and the 170KV 8085 it was driving.

The 6374s lasted even less time. Got hot and filled with shorts.

no since i don’t have the cash right now to strap some on that claim to be rated at 20S and find out.

cool thanks for the response damon! were the SC that failed a beta batch or part of the units that are being tested now?

I got some 48S+ motors, I’d be happy to take a couple units for testing…

Betas. However, i do not see how the new batch would behave any more nicely to motors that were not designed for those voltages. Running 84 volts though a motor designed to handle maybe 70 at most is asking for it.

When testing the unity with this same crowd of devs, one of the things i did was run motor detection on known shorted motors. The unity passed repeatedly, i’m still riding around on that unity. I have video of that on my insta somewhere. You can hear the unity buzzing the motor, and see the smoke rising up from the can.

I’m hoping that the stormcores can now deal with shorted motors and not lose their shit. Motors will eventually short and fuck themselves. Especially if we ride them like we want to. 100% all of them will eventually do it if ridden hard and hot enough. Hopefully they’ll figure it out from the units i sent back, because the motor controller shouldn’t be taken out with the motor.

I wouldn’t be making claims without being able to substantiate now would I? This was yesterday morning, max output was 10.8kW, there are others but CBF.

Peak of 68A at 56v. Hate to tell you this bud but that’s just over 3.8kw. You can squeeze more power from a unity on a 12s4p pack of 30Q.

Don’t get me wrong, that’s a good amount of power but it’s a long way short of the mythical 10kw.
