You’ve probably already checked this, but it’s also possible the JST connector is just a little dirty, or not seated properly. Might be worth taking a look at.
I’ll see if I can find a link later for the Stormcore app, but you can always use the vesc tool app as well. Doesn’t look at pretty though.
Also are you on iOS or android?
ios
I got the IPA off my phone. You’ll need to use a program to install it on your phone. I’ve used Altstore, and it has worked pretty well for me. Lmk if you have any issues.
Stormcore 1.2.ipa (9.4 MB)
thanks bubba
hello again im on 5.2 and seem to be missing a single can id, only 3 seem to populate. i have reset and restored… i do believe the system was working at some point… anyone experience this?
@trancejunkie if they’re all fine it’s possible one of the ESCs has the same id as another one, i had that happen when i didn’t properly press read after changing from one vesc to another one
i’d change every can id to something else, like 10, 11, 12 for example and then if the 4th is ok it should show up after scanning can, otherwise something might be broken.
Copy that. Good advice as I would certainly be the one to do that lol smh. So put the heat shrink on, slide to side then solder then slide heat shrink back over to cover soldering joint. Gotcha thanks!
Great idea. I have NOT checked this yet. I will definitely take a ganders. Oh yeah…what does the JST look like? Lol
Also I hear others using xt30/60/90 adapters for jst or something like this? Is that totally unrelated?
The connector I am talking about is the one that is on the other side of the button, which connects into the Stormcore. It’ll look like something similar to this. The XT series connectors are completely different. https://alexnld.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/88e4132e-6670-4537-8256-e9a51fe060a7.jpg
Yes, and the baller move is to cut a couple tiny pieces of HMA (aka: hot glue stick) and stick it inside the heat shrink tubing before you shrink it.
Hell yeah. I can appreciate the detail that provides longevity!
Hello, Ive got a Stormcore 60D purchased 2 years ago never used. did power it on once though.
One day I tried to turn on the stormcore with button switch and so long as a held down the switch the light turned on, when relasing the power shut off. the battery was 10s at 37v… keeping the 12S cutoff “preset?” 36.5v.
Its weird behavoir and i cant seem to turn on my stormcore which is weird, gotta decicde on a unitty or stormcore formy next build. hopefully i can get some tips on how to get this working.
PS i also own a PSU Riden rd5018 Can i used that instead of a battery to test my controller. if so, what do i set the Amp’s to on the PSU. goes up to 15Amps so figured could use it for testing safley motor controllers and motors running with 0 load aka bench testing.
you just set ABS to 15A I imagine that’s fine… Spinning a motor then having power cut from like an overcurrent issue power supply side could damage VESC but I think not as scary as it sounds.
can someone confirm if two stormcores (front + rear) are connected via can that the total number id’s will be 4 after scan?
Yes
bruhh i got a spare and hooked it up still only 3 ids wtffffffff
change the can IDs on all of them under the app settings tab. always press the read button when switching devices. Lets keep this in the public chat so other people can have access to this info. Two might have the same can ID, leading to this.
ya, maybe my cable is bad individualy they show local and entry
so i introduced a third new sc board and swapped it front and rear keeping note of the ids it seems 2 serials alternate being missing from old hw… fresh flash and all… all fw match ect…
Will crosspost this here in case someone here is knowledgable on the subject
