Excellent! I’m just thinking about upgrading a few things awesome news, thanks bro
Seems to be newstime today… more good news, I finally managed to order new/redesigned kCap ultracapacitor modules and have started offering them for pre-order: https://www.keenlab.de/index.php/product/kweld-ultracapacitor-module/ (will also be available from the above US/AU resellers)!
They now feature protection against overcharging (MOSFET switch) and also prevent backfeeding into their supply (by an ideal diode circuit), which now allows the use of any kind of current limited power supply with any voltage between 8.1V and 14V. The product page lists these options in more detail.
@tatus1969 It’s kinda hard getting ahold of a kit in the US. Your US guy Keith has got it nowhere except on FB and he blocked me on messenger
Eu/US Courier
I might. If nobody’s got one I’ll just order from kevin and wait for the shipping.
Ifya do this PM me and we could gang-bang the shipping perhaps!
I’ll check with him, am not aware of what might have happened in this case.
Thank you, he got back to me this morning. Hopefully he finishes his web store sometime so it’s a little easier to purchase one.
I also got a reply and an invoice as well…
thanks for whatever roll you had in making this happen! and a GREAT spot-welder…
Anyone know how long the 6000mah lipos have been out of stock? Trying to decide if I should keep waiting on them to come back in stock or just get the 5000mah ones since my kweld has just been sitting.
same situation except I’m insanely broke and just hoping anything goes on sale.
I was also interested in a KCap module i guess.
wonder if those are in stock and maybe in the USA
yeah that’s what the page says. Not sure if its worth waiting for, and the Lipo battery is also useful as a battery. Many things to consider, so little experience.
I don’t think the kCap is necessary unless you seriously beef up/upgrade the probe wires. I run two lipos in parallel (one by itself got too hot), and they can easily handle all the welds for a 60 cell battery.
My biggest problem with the kWeld is the probe wires getting too hot too quickly… i am tempted to buy a second set and just bolt those on as well so I can use one set while the other set cools down.
@tatus1969 Keith mentioned that he was working on some sort of upgrade for the probes/probe wires… do you know anything about that?
Considering the probes are copper maybe “pro” welders can get custom made massive engraved/ custom CNC copper heat sinks that also function as the probes
(or just slow down and drink some beers (next year when im 21))
I am extremely good at reading
Its the wires that are more of the problem.
water cool them
actual kinda a legit idea doe
I don’t if anyone sells water cooling sheaths/ tubing that goes over wires.
I suppose the wires could actually just sit in two separate tubs of water come to think of it
Get this wire and make your own probe holder crimp connectors or w/e

the heat doesn’t bother my hands (i have nice foamy cushions on my probes
) but it does affect the power of the welds.
