that’s where 20s and the gearing comes in I guess lol
@fessyfoo to add to that, one of the lacroix riders I’m friends with consistently does 30-45 mile rides multiple times a week

You just salty cos he said he wasnt gonna put handlebars on it
one way or another, R&D, testing, labor and whatever else cost of doing business will be included in the price of the product or else it wouldn’t make any sense to do business and sell at a loss
edit
fuck that is a lot of money, tho
Bahaha. Dammit man. Why you have to expose me like that
I couldnt help myself dude, sorry
On a side note, can I just say how happy I am that you’re atill around @CiscoV ! Skateboard or not, it’s nice having you around talking shit.
lol the replies on this thread.
Ernesto charges what he wants because he knows people would buy it since he’s an established builder.
“If I charge $4000, I’ll get 50 orders. If I charge $5000, I’ll get 25 orders. If I charge $6350, I’ll get 15 orders. Perfect!”
Even though he’d earn more at $4000 x 50. He literally can’t produce that fast nor wants to.
For the whiners about price, just remember there are people who spend $8-12k+ on road bikes. And those don’t have anywhere near the technology and complexity as esk8. Different budgets for different people. Just buy what works for you and enjoy it
dont know any 8$ road bikes
There you go…
True dat, id rater work less, solid reasoning
There are guys that drop 10k on road or mountain bikes. I have a feeling the premium prebuilts are going in that direction.
You mean they all over 8000$?
Could go onyx with the 41ah battery cause 2 wheels haha
Or a Sur Ron
with a litespeed pack
Yesssss
do you not understand how a business works? no ones doing real R&D for free. Either you don’t realise your paying for it, or they are not doing proper R&D. Ernesto is just being honest about it.
80A x 20s x 3.6V = solid 5.7Kw
that’s a fair amount of power.
not sure where you got this number from but not sure its right
5700w / 50.4V = 113A equivalent at 12s
bingo
you don’t have to spend long on the Lacroix Facebook group to work out this is the reason for most the sales. what other community post screenshots of their order confirmations with every optional extra.
As long as people keep buying the price will keep going up.
This is the key to understanding his decisions, you only have to look at his current boards to see this. From the factory they have super low wat limits set in vesc. This limits power but also significantly extends range.
For most buying the board they will never know the power they are lacking cause they only ever rode boards tuned like this, but they would notice if their range was bad.
Boards like the kaly and lacroix are capable of so much more than their stock settings allow but i bet most are never changed. TBH If i was selling boards to Facebook dick swinging idiots i would make the same tuning decisions.
Also i think @Kaly has done a great job on this.
Hes innovating, hes got a great attitude towards DIY, and hes honest about his business practices. that is the kinda board manufacturer im happy to support.
And if real boards are as good as they look in the renders im sure he will sell as many as he can make.
I see very little knowledge in business/pricing here. R&D should not influence your pricing. You should only take into account R&D costs when you are making the decision of doing the investment or not. When you have already made the investment it becomes a sunk cost, and has nothing to do with optimal pricing.
But of course you should take into account your production capabilities, and then set the optimal prices accordingly.
