k00k rambles about Raceboard Design

There was two nuclear test at the Bikini atoll, first one was called ‘Able’ and was dropped by a bomber and exploded in the air; second was ‘Baker’, which was an underwater explosion much powerful than the first; it was that famous explosion, ‘Baker’, the one captured in the famous film shot ejecting millions of gallons of water in the air, producing a tsunami and sinking a few warships anchored at the site for the testing. Subsequent atomic test in those islands followed letter names A,B,C, etc., next one was called ‘Charlie’, and so on.

Different islands but the French government tested their nuclear bomb in our islands. 193 bombs were detonated and 46 of those bombs exploded in the atmosphere, the rest went boom underground.

Apparently some 30-40 years ago they had the technology to make clean nuclear testing, meanwhile cancer rate in the pacific islands is abnormally high but I am no doctor it could be genetics.

We did get some pocket money out of it but probably not a significant percentage of what they were able to make selling nuclear technology for power plants or anything else.

Jaques Chirac, ex prime minister of France, stubbornly maintained the last nuclear tests on the Society Islands against the worlds outcry at the time (mid 90’s). Environmental groups like Green Peace did try to run their protest in the vecinity of the Moruroa Atoll test site with their ships but were detained by the French Coast Guards.

Check out Joe Woodworking.

I followed his vacuum pump tutorial and have one of his bags. His vacuum pump design has sub reservoirs so you never loose that suction.

I was able to build the whole thing for less that $125. I found one of those Thomas pumps refurbished on eBay for $75 and had a few of the fittings from my compressor.

But damn that thing works really well!
