Yes good point. I’m often switching between esk8 and ldp (long distance pushing) longboard and combination of that two worlds would be very interesting, specially JayKay trucks can mount on most popular decks.
Solution of bearings, one hub have same size on both end big bearings.
I Understand is for design purpose but from performance side any advantage?
All tho I’m not a fan personally pretty cool that it actually works to a extent. It has to be seen as a power assisted not a electric skateboard. Otherwise It’s the same as calling a go cart a ATV in my mines.
Dose make me interested for a VESC mounted inside a set of trucks is very possible with good power output.
Think of all that surface area for heat transfer, 2 wires to the trucks not the 18 I Currently use.
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a Chinese brand using the same technique.
I think it was exway. From memory they got a short board comming with "“hot”"swappable hub/belt drive. And they state somewhere this is easy because they put the ESC int the baseplate.
As someone in the midst of researching this topic. I would still declare it as an ESK8 and not power assist. As I far as I seen , you’re helping the motor get started. It’s not helping you.
I did try to mount it on my ldp setup and it sort of mounts ok but the baseplate on these is just slightly too long for something like a gbomb deep drop, and if you want to mount it dropthrough on the forks the charge port becomes inaccessible
The longer the review takes, the more thorough it can be. One of the most difficult things to measure is longevity and robustness, and there is little substitute for time in that regard
I, for one, hope it takes at least a little bit, but not too long
Considering the product was launched in 2017? 2018? what strikes me is the almost total absence of authoritative reviews online (at least I could not find them). Anybody succeeded?
Define authoritative. They don’t give out review units and it’s a a high price compared to what’s out there. There are some initial impressions from boarders who are close to them but it’s no surprise that there B aren’t many reviews out there.
I’d like to get a clear answer on following questions:
Iron-less motor windings: are they really efficent in Jaykay application?
In other words: real range and max. speed @ given skater weight on xxx surface
Remote: are there dropouts/jerkiness or not? @flocon2001 got them and the swiss blond guy as well in his first road test.
Batteries and electronics in the trucks: good idea? do batteries cook? How many cycles before replacing them? Can you replace them easily? Risks to snap the trucks?
@Rotko it seems like they only just started delivering truly. I’m the first reviewer to get mine and even I paid for my set.
Real world range close to 5 miles hard hill riding. Can likely get more if I cruise. Remote seems fine. Does overheat on long consecutive hills. I’d have a hard time believing the batteries aren’t cooking in there…
@hummieee It’s both. They told me themselves when I contacted them and I read the paper they wrote. Don’t have those exact numbers but I’m sure can be calculated. 4s, 90mm, 22mph top, maybe slightly limited cause I don’t notice speed reductions at low battery. I’ll ask maybe they’ll tell me
