You’re giving me flashbacks to the time Linny showed me his Photon which had to be physically resting on the enclosure to connect.

my voyager remote has been BULLETPROOF

never a single weird issue/disconnect

and it controls my lights!

BUT, all the horror stories on here have convinced me to prepare another solution for my lights, just need the courage to open up my enclosure

I think the voyager remote has a following in the vesc wheel community.

People like to dunk on it because it’s the only remote “made to be held” or whatever, but I did find it wayyy more ergonomic than any other remote out there when I tried it for a few minutes. It just fits in your hand super comfy

I hope the thing is discontinued. After it malfunction when I was strapped to my mountainboard which resulted in me fracturing my neck and back, im not a fan.

The only voyage you will be going on with the remote is a voyage to the fuckin hospital.
3 months in a neck brace is not fun. I just got out of it a week ago. Started PT two days ago.

Obviously not a great comparison, but i like my voyager, it reminds me of growing up owning a shitty game console  and my backfire deadzone nearly killed me twice today, and full throttled my board into the middle of traffic, if anyone has a known solution for that would be great  and after all these stories i am a bit worried though.

Has anyone else personally had a full throttle failure of the remote?

I really liked my voyager too until it tried to kill me with no warning. It was a very comfortable remote to use.

@BuildKitBoards commented on FB, bascally saying very few of their customers give a shit about VESC, and VESC caused them more issues than it solved.

Why would you order from a place called build kit boards? Make a “diy” board, optimize hardware i assume, but never open vesc tool to optimize software? Seems like a user issue to me.

Im not a fan of vesc tool cause it makes me feel dumb, but i figured it out and my board hasnt killed me yet

How did they even get that 5% number?

Did only 5% of bkb kit buyers opt to build it themselves? Otherwise, you definitely would need to open vesctool.

They came pre programmed for the specific motors.
This will save them heaps of time since they wont have to set up each board independently.

My god, what are they even doing then? I can disassemble and re-assemble my backfire, doesnt make it a diy :sob::rofl: also fixed my remote for now

I cracked my deck and had to switch all my shit over #built not bought

Because a lot of people like building a kit with their child/ relative or friends. Programming software on a controller thats iffy at best sometimes and gives weird results etc is not fun and really understanding and learning VESC is arguably more work than building the entire board.

Selling a VESC would be smart as an after upgrade for people that wanna go the extra mile in DIY.

The way they see VESC now is as an “aftermarket tune” which imho is really smart and appropriate.
