Maybe the loaded hubs are something for you?
Jaykay hub motors would be good to have , with classic hangers and a larger battery, of course.
I have always admired the engineering craftsmanship of this design, but minimalism with battery and ESC in hangers was doomed to failure, I mean mass sales.
The short range and overheating truck and the high price of the kit discouraged purchase
Nonetheless, I respect the makers of this kit for their inzynierie and out-of-the-box ideas
Loaded X Unlimited hubs are discontinued unfortunately. And even if someone found the factory, we wouldn’t have sleeve replacements, since Loaded make those in California I believe.
Hummie hubs are supposedly good, but I wouldn’t count on them being readily available for purchase.
I think sticking with some chinese hub motor is the way to go, just need to find the right one.
But using Meepo ESC doesn’t make much sense; people buying these DIY parts have money, surely they’d go with a Vesc based ESC as well…
Also I think forwards / upwards mounted gear drives with small motors is the way to go with these decks, since the brackets are narrow and allow for such orientation. No other board can do that
Perhaps, I will have to check it out, now I have installed a gear drive with 6368 motors facing backwards
I think I would have to replace the brackets with longer ones to be able to reverse the motors, but @PROJECTFAP did something like this
Looks great
Can I post a picture of your board on my site?
I want to make a gallery with boards built from parts that I produce
Do you have the shortest type 3 brackets, the wheels do not interfere with the deck?
Feel free! There are more pictures in the build thread and the sale post for that board
2cm drop ones I believe. No wheel bite, no motor bite, great ground clearance when going over curbs
Right, in the case of TKP trucks there is no collision of tires with the deck, this problem occurs only with RKP trucks for which I recommend bracket No.4
I once built a similar board with No. 3 brackets, but I had 6-inch wheels and an SR 177 TKP truck
Thanks for the opportunity to use photos
I love the look of this board!
I changed the deck to a flexible one, replaced the enclosure with a super low one and this board will stay in this configuration. I haven’t given up on the idea of making a enclosure with replaceable batteries, but not with these motors and ESC.
The last addition on this board is an unusual heat sink with a hole for the switch
This is the heatsink that fits the Evolve GT enclosure
The heat sink underneath is the classic version without a hole for the switch
Board with TKP hangers for Surf-Rodz baseplates completed
I’m glad to have inspired several people to build similar boards.
One of the most extreme boards is a 4WD variant using Enertion Raptor 2.1 hub motors
Adapting the hangers to these hub motors was easy because the axle is very similar to the Meepo hub motors, muses they are from the same factory
Love the hub board. Especially the wider motor hanger. Where and how do i install those on my deck? Pretty please!
I’ve just installed cloudwheel rovers 110mm on the meepo hubs. Way better ride than those meepo donuts. More importantly they don’t get as hot as the the meepo donuts.
You can instal TKP trucks it on your deck but you buy hangers from me, and you have to buy base plates and bushing set from SurfRodz
