I’ll just say no. And this is with everything you just said in mind. How can I set realistic timelines with no access to funds? PayPal said they won’t address this until March. I litterally have nothing aside from the help of a few friends. They are the reason refunds have happened. They have helped pool funds for materials to make product to ship. They have helped generate funds for shipping and shipping supplies. Without them all funds are frozen. I’m doing everything possible to move forward without offering hollow words and open ended promises.

Just curious as a passive onlooker to this craziness - why ask for help? Where did the money go for people who are waiting for their money to be returned? Also, how much total is owed (I ask because the gofundme page below is asking for $10,000, so I’m assuming even more than this 10K is owed back):

I am concerned about the PayPal freeze and refund. If they open it back up, do they pull funds out to refund pending orders so they will get a double refund?

Thousands of dollars are tied up in parts for builds. This is inventory that sits and waits for remaining parts to arrive to complete builds. Some of this sits in customs, in China waiting for 2 months for maytech to repair nearly 2000 in speed controllers. Shopify likes to refund people who received their orders! Thousands came out of my pocket to replace trucks for people before their hangers bent. Even when I’m still riding v1s. Now, all money that goes to PayPal stays with PayPal. I can’t buy raw materials, ship or refund.

Lei and I processed some refunds thinking logically it would come out of the held money. No. They drained my bank acct into the negative and didn’t touch any of the held funds…

Dave I trust you and have mucho respect for you dude. I appreciate everything that you have done for the community. It takes a big man to admit that he needs help as it isn’t something that anyone wants to do no matter what it is for but when it is asked you at least see who has your back.
I will say that if the Abec thing wasn’t done probably wouldn’t be in this situation by you and Chris are friends so I can see where your heart was. I had a feeling something was going on with Abec when the Sk8trip site was down and when all the stuff that sk8trip distributes was sold out on muirskate for months.
I wish you the best if I was out on the west coast I would totally be down to spend time helping out with what ever I could help with.

Ah. That is a big yikes. Have you given paypal a call and explained the situation with the dispute cases? Usually the representatives are helpful & they may be able to specifically unlock the ability to issue refunds using the Paypal funds. Just a possibility, not sure if it is viable.

That’s where I’m at. I’ve already spoken to them several times. I’ve been with PayPal since their inception. Never had issues until now.

It just turned into a shitstorm of insults, threats and campaigning bullshit against me on FB. So peace! I cancelled it. The money is being returned to the donors. I’m assuming all the stuff I’ve donated over the years is getting returned as well. I’m actually sorry i asked.
