I’ve thought a lot about this.

Even just carving and turning puts a lot of lateral pressure on the bearings.

I would hypothesize that they never became big with longboards and skateboards because of the price. I’ve seen them in the range of $12-$25 each for angular contact 708A. 8x22x7wide
We’re talking about at least $100-$150 for a set of bearings

Absolutely!

I haven’t seen anything about that. Is there some post or news article?

Here are the two statements on Metroboard Facebook group :

TL;DR : not a merger, still two differents brands identities with talented people behind them, some on both. :+1:

haha, wrong on both counts! Metro is in Vancouver, WA. And not a merger, both companies remain separate entities.

Lol woops. Apparently my information was incorrect. Either way, looks like both parties will benefit

Everyone knows that Vancouver is Portland-Lite, Jeff :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Congrats on making this big move! I’m really excited to see where y’all take the Hoyt and Metroboard brands from here. Exciting times!

@JJHoyt What are the inner diameters of the 5" & 7" tires? I want to confirm if these are compatible with hubs I already have like Bergs, 6 shooters, MBS, etc. While your hubs also look really nice and high quality, my pesky budget says I can only have tires. And I want both sizes. :money_mouth_face:

For the record, the new Metro 153s should be identical to the original 155s. The 155s weren’t exactly 155mm and we just need a way to differentiate as I expect the vendor to flood the market with the old product. But theirs wont be speed rated and their quality issues will continue.
